Young-goon, mentally deranged and frequently electro-charging herself with a transistor radio, has been admitted into a mental institution. Firmly believing herself to be a cyborg, she refuses to consume like a human being. Il-soon is another patient, who catches the eye of Young-goon and soon becomes a close friend. Il-soon is now confronted with the biggest task: to cure Young-goon's mental problem and have her eat real food.

really nice to see a movie where people with mental illness aren’t villainized in the slightest! the two leads treat each other with such respect and compassion, and are shown to be not just capable, but deserving of romantic love :’) gimme more absurdist arthouse romcoms!!!

I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK is a bit of a black sheep in Park Chan-Wook's filmography, straying away from the dark, gritty tales that he usually gravitates toward in favor of a more lighthearted, comedic affair. Comparison could be drawn to Wes Anderson films or quirky foreign romantic comedies like Amelie, but once you get going into this adventure it becomes clear that it has a style all it's own.
The plot concerns a mentally devastated girl named Young-Goon, who has been forced to live with her schizophrenic grandmother her entire life, and when her grandmother is sent off to an institution, she begins to believe that she is a cyborg. After cutting open her wrist and inserting electrical…
Of course the man who made The Vengeance Trilogy also made something as cute as this. It makes perfect sense.
