Acrylic on paper and Dura-lar, 9"x9"
Digitally generative, practically modular. This work combines three layers: a painted background and two layers on Dura-Lar. As additional layers are created, the number of possible configurations grows exponentially.

This is a demo of my new Generative Painter tool—built in Processing (P2D) with a custom GLSL smudge shader. It’s part brush engine, part particle ecosystem, and part color-sampling collage machine.
Everything begins with an image. Any image. Load it in, and the system uses it as a color source while you paint. You can switch between:
Manual Painting — oil, watercolor, airbrush, crayon, digital line, or a GLSL-driven smudge brush
Generative Agents — noise, flow fields, or ripple/vortex motion
Symmetry Modes — 1, 4, or 8-way kaleidoscopic strokes
Lazy Mouse Stabilizer for smooth, organic lines
Fade & Jitter controls for atmosphere and motion blur
Runtime Image Loading for wild remix workflows
The smudge brush is GPU-accelerated and responds to your brush velocity. Fast, draggy, liquid, sometimes unpredictable—just the way I like it.
This project is part of my ongoing work at Another Human in the Loop, where I’m building out a monthly library of creative tools, shaders, and generative systems for artists, designers, and experimenters. If you want to explore with me, you can find the project here:

If you make something with this, or remix it, I’d love to see it. Drop me a comment, send a link, or tag me on Instagram: @justinlincoln. Thanks for watching — and happy painting. — Justin / Another Human in the Loop
