01 / MEET THE PROJECT
What is AI Photoshop Clone?
A starting point for exploring PhotoCraft. Try the tools, then look under the hood.
AI Photoshop Clone is an independent place to explore PhotoCraft, an open-source, clean-room reimplementation of a Photoshop-style image editor. The name describes this site’s topic: the growing interest in AI Photoshop clones and accessible creative software. The actual editor here is PhotoCraft, developed by the ArtCraft team and contributors, and the browser build remains in early alpha.
A FAMILIAR STARTING POINT
Layers, masks and a real canvas
Work with separate image and text layers, use masks to control visibility and adjust color without rebuilding a whole composition. If you know Photoshop’s general layout, PhotoCraft’s menus and panels give you a recognizable place to start. Explore one tool at a time; similar placement does not guarantee identical behavior.

A PROJECT YOU CAN FOLLOW
Open source, beyond the demo
The upstream code is available on GitHub under MIT or Apache 2.0. Read the documentation, check reported issues and follow releases to understand how the project develops. This site serves the official v0.8.2 web build; it does not add an AI backend or modify the PhotoCraft engine.

BRING A REAL DOCUMENT
Inspect PSD compatibility
Open a copy of a layered PSD and inspect the result. Look at text, masks, effects and layer order before changing anything. PhotoCraft supports PSD workflows, but complex documents can expose compatibility differences. A useful trial ends with an exported file you have checked, not just a document that opens.
Choose Open Editor, wait for PhotoCraft to finish loading, then use File → Open to select a photo from your device. Use a duplicate for this first trial. Pick a straightforward task, such as adding a caption to a landscape or making a small color adjustment, so you can learn the controls without a complex document getting in the way.
02
Change one thing
Add a text layer, move it into place or try a supported adjustment. Keep new elements on separate layers and check which layer is selected before you edit. Toggle the result to compare it with the original, and use Undo when you need to step back. Your first task is about understanding the workflow, not using every tool.
03
Export and inspect
Save or Export a copy to your device. Open the downloaded image and look at its size, text and color. If you need to revisit the layers, also save a supported editable document and check that it reopens as expected. Save regularly: this web build does not provide autosave or crash recovery.
From a real browser walkthrough. We created a practice document, added a text layer and checked a 1920 × 1080 PNG export with PhotoCraft v0.8.2. Try one complete task, then inspect your result. Read the full PhotoCraft tutorial ↗.
Use a current desktop browser with WebGPU or WebGL2. The first launch downloads about 11 MB of compressed app files; later visits may use your browser cache. Bookmark the direct editor link to skip the introduction next time.
03 / READ “AI” CAREFULLY
What does “AI” mean in a Photoshop clone?
When people discuss an AI Photoshop clone, the conversation can mix how software is developed with what it lets you do. A familiar editing interface, tools for AI agents and a generative image service are different capabilities. Check the tools included in the version you can actually run before choosing it for your work.
Here you can try PhotoCraft’s editing tools for layers, selections, masks, brushes and adjustments. The upstream project documents command interfaces for scripts and agents; that does not mean this browser deployment includes a connected assistant. There is no prompt box or image-generation service in this deployment. You stay in control of the edits through the available tools.
04 / A PRACTICAL PSD CHECKLIST
Bring your PSD. Keep your original.
Check before editing
Compare the opened PSD with a trusted preview. Check fonts, layer visibility, masks and effects. A missing font or unsupported feature can change the design even when the file opens successfully.
Check after exporting
Export a separate file, open it and inspect the result. For layered work, reopen the saved copy too. Use the trial to decide whether the editor handles your document well enough for the task at hand.
Keep the task proportionate
Start with a small change and preserve a clean source copy. Early-alpha software is useful for exploration, but important production documents deserve a tested workflow and a reliable backup.
05 / SET EXPECTATIONS
PhotoCraft vs Photoshop: a practical comparison
Similar tools do not mean full parity. Test the workflow your document needs.
PhotoCraft recreates a familiar editing workflow, but its own maintainers describe it as early alpha. An AI Photoshop clone is useful to explore when you need a simple edit or want to understand an open-source project. Evaluate file fidelity, stability and the specific features your work depends on before treating it as a replacement.

06 / BEYOND THIS BROWSER TAB
Follow the project. Find your next step.
Try the editor here, then go to the project’s own sources for documentation and discussion.
The editor is PhotoCraft, made by the ArtCraft team and open-source contributors. This independent site hosts the official v0.8.2 browser build and offers a starting point for people exploring Photoshop-style clones. The site name is our own; PhotoCraft remains the name of the software.
Is this an AI-powered replacement for Photoshop?
This browser build is a manual image editor in early alpha. It includes layers, masks, brushes and image adjustments, but no connected AI assistant, Generative Fill service or complete Photoshop plug-in ecosystem. Test it on a copy of your files and choose it according to the tools your task actually needs.
Can I connect an AI agent to this web editor?
This deployment does not include a connected agent or a place to enter an AI API key. The upstream project documents CLI, JSON control-channel and MCP interfaces for scripting and agents. Follow those project instructions for the supported setup instead of assuming every native integration is available inside this browser host.
Is the editor free and open source?
Yes. You can use the browser editor here without a paid plan or account. PhotoCraft’s own code and original assets are licensed under MIT or Apache 2.0; bundled third-party material has its own notices. Read the open-source notices and upstream source for details.
How do I go straight to the editor next time?
Choose Open Editor and bookmark the URL with view=editor. That link opens the workspace directly. The plain homepage stays an introduction with a static preview. The small edge logo reveals controls for Home page and Full screen, and you can drag it to a more comfortable position.
Can I use my existing Photoshop PSD?
You can open supported PSD documents in PhotoCraft. Check the appearance and layer structure before editing, keep your original and verify the exported copy. Complex fonts, effects and other Photoshop features may not reproduce perfectly in an early-alpha editor.
Are my photos sent to an AI service?
No. PhotoCraft processes your images locally in the browser, and this site provides no image-upload endpoint or generation service. Google Analytics measures visits and site interactions; image files and document contents are not sent as analytics events. Download your work before reloading or closing the tab.
What if PhotoCraft does not load?
Allow time for the first app download, use a current desktop browser and check that hardware acceleration is enabled. You can try the WebGL fallback or CPU canvas mode. Save your work before changing modes or reloading.
