Azalea Colburn
welcome to my HyperText page on the World Wide Web.
About Me
I'm a transfem student studying Computer Science and Linguistics at The University of Chicago. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I'm also a vegetarian NixOS user.
I'm primarily interested in compilers and programming languages, both formal and natural. however, I'm also fascinated by systems programming generally. as a transfem, my language of choice is of course Rust (although C is a close second).
some of my favorite media:
- Doctor Who, a long-running British Sci-Fi show about the titular Doctor Who (no, it's not "The Doctor"; real fans get it)
- Modem Prometheus, an urban fantasy podcast by namtao
- Patricia Taxxon, a Hyperpop and experimental electronic musician, she's also trans and makes great video essays
beyond my laptop screen, I enjoy poetry, biking, urban environments, typewriters, and tea.
Blog
I'm planning to write a blog, some topics on my mind:
- cafes and biking trails around Portland or Chicago
- interesting programming things
- English language writing reform and/or conlang development
- urban light rail systems, particularly in Portland
- Hyperpop album review
- poetry (currently the only meaningful content present)
- a few philosophical theories some friends and I have
Web Presence
- code on github
- unprofessional ramblings on bluesky and transfem.social
