API Reference
API endpoints to manage the full lifecycle of your data and Basis Theory resources. The Basis Theory API is organized around REST. Our API is built with a predictable resource-oriented structure, uses JSON-encoded requests and responses, follows standard HTTP verbs/responses, and uses industry standard authentication.
You are able to create different tenants within your Basis Theory account to enable you to segment your test environments from your core production data. Tenants serve as a logical grouping for each of your systems to interact with Basis Theory without affecting each other.
Call the API URL for your tenant:
| API URL | Use it for |
|---|---|
https://api.us.basistheory.com | PRODUCTION tenants in the United States |
https://api.eu.basistheory.com | PRODUCTION tenants in the European Union |
https://api.test.basistheory.com | TEST tenants |
https://api.basistheory.com | Legacy. Existing integrations only |
Start new production integrations on the endpoint for your tenant's region.
The legacy endpoint, https://api.basistheory.com, normally routes requests to your
tenant's region, but falls back to the United States if we bypass our edge network
during recovery. EU integrations must use the EU endpoint to avoid this failure
mode. See Regional Endpoints for details and SDK
configuration.
Check out our Tenants concept page to learn more about how they work.
