bitdrift for AI Agents

Connect your AI agent to bitdrift so it can work with real data from your mobile apps: diagnose crashes, investigate sessions, read charts, and create workflows, dashboards, and alerts, all from the agent or chat app you already use.

There are two ways to connect:

  • Remote MCP server (recommended): add one URL to any agent or chat app that supports remote MCP servers, or install the bitdrift plugin in Codex, Claude Code, or Copilot CLI, and sign in with your bitdrift account.
  • CLI + Agent Skills: install the bd CLI and bitdrift's agent skills for coding agents that run shell commands. The skills also guide your agent through instrumenting your app with the Capture SDK.

Remote MCP server

CLI + Agent Skills

Quick start

In Codex, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot CLI, install bitdrift from the bitdrift plugin marketplace. It has three plugins:

Plugin What it installs
bitdrift-mcp The remote MCP server, which connects your agent to your bitdrift account
bitdrift-cli The bd-cli and bd-cuj skills, which need the bd CLI
bitdrift-sdk The bd-instrumentation and bd-docs skills, which work with or without the CLI

Add the marketplace, then install the plugins. Skip any you don't need; bitdrift-mcp is the one that connects your agent to bitdrift.

Bash
codex plugin marketplace add bitdriftlabs/bd-skills
codex plugin add bitdrift-mcp@bitdrift
codex plugin add bitdrift-cli@bitdrift
codex plugin add bitdrift-sdk@bitdrift

Start a new session to use the plugins. For more details, see the Codex plugins documentation.

Run these commands in Claude Code:

/plugin marketplace add bitdriftlabs/bd-skills
/plugin install bitdrift-mcp@bitdrift
/plugin install bitdrift-cli@bitdrift
/plugin install bitdrift-sdk@bitdrift

For more details, see the Claude Code plugins documentation.

Bash
copilot plugin marketplace add bitdriftlabs/bd-skills
copilot plugin install bitdrift-mcp@bitdrift
copilot plugin install bitdrift-cli@bitdrift
copilot plugin install bitdrift-sdk@bitdrift

For more details, see the Copilot CLI plugins documentation.

Sign in with your bitdrift account when your agent connects to the MCP server. If you installed bitdrift-cli, also install and sign in to the bd CLI.

Add the bitdrift MCP server to your agent using this URL, then sign in with your bitdrift account when prompted:

https://mcp.bitdrift.ai/

See Set up your client for step-by-step instructions for ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Antigravity, Kiro, Codex, Claude Code, Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI, Antigravity CLI, Kiro CLI, OpenCode, and other MCP clients that support OAuth.

Install and authenticate the bd CLI, then add the skills to your coding agent:

Bash
brew tap bitdriftlabs/bd
brew install bd
bd auth
npx skills add bitdriftlabs/bd-skills

See CLI + Agent Skills for details and other installation options.

Choosing a connection

Both options give your agent access to the same bitdrift account data, with the same permissions as the user who signs in. They differ in where they run and what else they can do.

Remote MCP server CLI + Agent Skills
Setup Install the bitdrift-mcp plugin or add a URL to your agent Install bd (macOS, via Homebrew) and the skills (via npx)
Sign-in bitdrift account (OAuth) bd auth browser login or API key
Works with MCP clients that support OAuth, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Antigravity, Kiro, Codex, Claude Code, Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode Coding agents that support skills and can run shell commands
Investigate issues, sessions, and charts
Create and deploy workflows, dashboards, and alerts
Interactive charts in the conversation In clients that support MCP Apps
Scripts and CI bd auth locally, or an API key in CI

You can also combine them: some skills work alongside the MCP server. See Skills with the MCP server.

What your agent can do

Once connected, your agent can:

Example prompts

Issues and crashes

  • "Help me diagnose the top 3 crashes for the latest release of my app over the past week."
  • "Which new issues appeared after we shipped version 4.2? Assign the most common one to me."

Sessions and user journeys

  • "Show me sessions where users experienced sharp memory increases that led to out-of-memory errors for my app."
  • "Where are users dropping off the most? Show me sessions with the top user journeys that ended in a force quit for my app."

Metrics and monitoring

  • "Which client API calls are using the most network bandwidth in the latest release of my app?"
  • "Create a workflow that tracks checkout completion rate, add it to a dashboard, and alert me if it drops below 95%."

SDK instrumentation (with the bd-instrumentation skill)

  • "Install the bitdrift Capture SDK in my Android app and track feature flag exposures."
  • "Add network monitoring and screen tracking to my iOS app's existing bitdrift integration."
  • "Validate my existing bitdrift integration and tell me what's missing."
