WalletConnect

Connect Cake Wallet to dApps with WalletConnect on Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, BNB Smart Chain, Robinhood Chain and Solana, and sign safely.

WalletConnect links Cake Wallet to decentralized apps (dApps) — exchanges, NFT marketplaces, lending apps and more — running in a browser or on another device. The dApp asks for permission to see your address and sends you requests to sign; nothing is signed or sent until you approve it in Cake Wallet. Your keys never leave the app.

Supported wallets

WalletConnect works with these wallet types:

eip155:1

eip155:137

eip155:8453

eip155:42161

eip155:4663

Solana mainnet

WalletConnect is not available for hardware wallets. If you open a WalletConnect link while a wallet of another type (for example Bitcoin or Monero) is open, Cake Wallet asks you to switch to one of the wallets above and try again.

Open WalletConnect

Open the wallet you want to connect, then go to Settings → <Coin> Settings → WalletConnect — for example Settings → Ethereum Settings → WalletConnect, or Settings → Solana Settings → WalletConnect.

The WalletConnect screen lists the dApps already connected to this wallet. If none are connected yet, it reads Active connections will appear here.

Connect to a dApp

1

Get the dApp's WalletConnect code

On the dApp's website, choose Connect wallet (the wording varies by dApp) and pick WalletConnect. The dApp shows a QR code and usually a button to copy the link.

2

Scan it or paste it into Cake Wallet

On the WalletConnect screen, choose one:

  • Scan QR — point your camera at the dApp's QR code. This button appears on iOS and Android only.

  • Paste WalletConnect link — opens Enter WalletConnect URI. Paste the link you copied from the dApp (the paste icon fills it from your clipboard), then tap Confirm.

You can also tap Scan on your wallet's home screen and scan the dApp's WalletConnect QR code directly — Cake Wallet recognizes it and opens WalletConnect for you.

3

Review the connection request

A Connect request sheet shows:

  • the dApp's name, icon and web address, with <dApp> would like to connect

  • a Verified or Not Verified badge, based on WalletConnect's domain check

  • the wallet and address you are about to share

  • what the dApp is asking to do — always View your wallet balance and activity, plus Request approval for transactions, Sign messages and typed data and Switch and add EVM chains when the dApp asks for them

If WalletConnect flags the dApp as a known scam, a red WARNING! banner appears: This request appears to be from a known scam. Please proceed with caution.

4

Approve or reject

Swipe to approve to connect. To refuse, tap the X in the top-left corner of the sheet — the dApp is told you rejected the request.

Once connected, the dApp appears in your WalletConnect list. You can go back to the dApp in your browser.

Approve requests from a dApp

Every time a connected dApp wants something signed, Cake Wallet shows a sheet for you to review. You can approve it or tap the X to reject it.

  • Transactions open as Approve request. On EVM networks the message lists the Value being sent and the From and To addresses, along with the Network fee or Max network fee (with a fiat estimate when a price is available). On Solana the sheet shows the transaction data the dApp sent. Swipe to approve to sign it.

  • Messages and typed data (for example a "Sign in with Ethereum" message or a token permit) open as Signing request, showing the Message to sign. Swipe Swipe to sign to sign it. When a dApp sends several sign-in messages at once, a Sign all <number> messages button also appears.

Each request also shows the Method, Chain ID and Transport Type the dApp used, plus the wallet name and address that will sign. After you approve or reject, Cake Wallet returns you to the dApp where it can, or shows a confirmation such as You can go back to your dApp now.

With VoiceOver or TalkBack turned on, the swipe control appears as a regular labeled button (Approve or Confirm), so connection and signing requests can be approved with a screen reader.

Connections stay with the wallet that approved them

A WalletConnect connection belongs to the wallet (address) you approved it from. The WalletConnect list only shows the dApps connected to the wallet that is currently open, and switching to another wallet in Cake Wallet does not hand an existing dApp connection over to it.

If a dApp sends a request for a different wallet than the one you have open, Cake Wallet rejects it and shows: This request was made for a different wallet. Open the wallet connected to this app and try again. Switch back to the wallet you connected with and repeat the action on the dApp.

View and disconnect a dApp

  1. Open the WalletConnect screen (Settings → <Coin> Settings → WalletConnect).

  2. Tap a dApp in the list. Its details page shows Connected to <dApp>, when the connection Expires on, the wallet and address it can see, and the permissions you granted.

  3. To disconnect, tap Delete, then confirm Delete in the prompt.

The dApp loses access immediately. To use it again, connect from scratch.

Stay safe

  • Check the web address. On every connection and signing request, compare the dApp's address shown under its name with the site you meant to visit. Treat Not Verified with caution and never continue past a WARNING! scam banner unless you are certain.

  • Read before you swipe. Check the amount, destination address and network fee on every transaction. If you don't understand what a message or transaction does, reject it — a single signature can be enough to approve someone to move your tokens.

  • Connect only what you need. Disconnect dApps you no longer use from the WalletConnect list.

  • Never paste your recovery phrase into a dApp. WalletConnect never needs it. Anyone asking for it is trying to steal your funds — see What to do if scammed.

  • Consider a separate wallet with only the funds you need for dApps, and keep your savings in another wallet.
