Comments

Quotion includes a built-in comment system for discussions on your posts. Comments are stored by Quotion and shared across your site's subdomain, custom domain, and URL prefix.

Comments appear directly below the article, using the same layout and theme as the post. A compact comment row stays collapsed until a reader opens the discussion. Signing in opens a dialog. The component is rendered by Quotion itself without an iframe or an external comment service.

Email Notifications

Site owners receive email notifications for new comments. Readers can open Settings from their avatar menu to control reply and like emails independently. Reply notifications are on by default; like notifications are off by default. Preferences apply across Quotion sites; verification codes are still sent when signing in.

Join a Discussion

Readers must verify their email with a six-digit code before commenting, replying, or liking. Codes expire after ten minutes. Sign-in accepts the consumer mailbox domains of Gmail, Outlook/Hotmail/Live/MSN, iCloud, Yahoo, QQ and NetEase. Custom domains, temporary mailboxes and lookalike domains are rejected. Existing anonymous sessions cannot post; verifying an approved email can recover their existing comments.

The editor supports rich text and Markdown shortcuts for bold, italic, strikethrough, code, headings, lists, links, and quotes. Readers can reply, like comments, and edit or delete their own comments. Discussions refresh automatically while they are expanded.

Click your avatar to open Profile, My comments, Settings, or Logout. Profile lets you update your name and upload or remove your avatar. Your email is read-only and is never included in public comments. Names, avatars and notification preferences are shared by the same verified email across sites.

My comments shows your comments throughout Quotion. Search their text, filter by the current site, domain or date range, and sort by date or domain. Results use pages of 20 comments and link back to their discussion. Private post titles stay hidden until you unlock the post; unpublished posts have no public link. Sign-in sessions remain scoped to the site and browser where you verified your email.

Supported mailbox domains are matched exactly, following the providers' documentation: Google, Microsoft, Apple, Yahoo, QQ, and NetEase. Email verification and rate limits work together with this list; the domain alone does not prove that a comment is legitimate.

Manage Comments

Manage discussions directly on each post. Sign in to the discussion with your site owner or active editor email to pin comments and delete unwanted comments. Deleted comments leave a placeholder so their replies remain readable.

Enabling or disabling the widget keeps existing discussions stored. Comments from the previous Chirpy integration are not imported into the built-in system.
