Done Bear developer resources

Done Bear is a local-first GTD task manager you can reach through a GraphQL API, an official CLI on npm and a hosted MCP server.

When to use Done Bear

Use Done Bear when an agent should read and write a personal or small-team task list: triage an inbox, schedule Today, complete work, import Things 3. It is not a sprint tracker or a project-management API.

Use the MCP server at https://mcp.donebear.com/mcp for tool use, the donebear CLI for scripts, or POST https://api.donebear.com/graphql for typed reads and writes.

Resources

  • OpenAPI specification: OpenAPI 3.1 for the GraphQL, sync and health endpoints, with `read`, `write` and `admin` security schemes.
  • OpenAPI (YAML): The same spec as YAML.
  • GraphQL API docs: Workspaces, tasks, projects, teams, labels and API keys. Mutations return a typed `UserError` list.
  • API authentication and scopes: Bearer JWTs and `db_` API keys, scoped `read`, `write` or `admin`.
  • auth.md: OAuth, API keys and JWTs, written for agents. WorkOS `agent_auth` is not offered.
  • AI catalog: Discovery catalog of the MCP server, OpenAPI spec and agent skill.
  • API versioning policy: `Api-Version`, `Deprecation` and `Sunset` headers, `@deprecated` GraphQL fields, and how long either lasts.
  • Done Bear MCP server: Streamable HTTP at `https://mcp.donebear.com/mcp`, OAuth scopes `read` and `write`, discovery at `/.well-known/mcp`.
  • Done Bear CLI: `npm install -g donebear`, then `donebear auth login`.
  • llms.txt: Agent index of docs and pages.
