Version 10.0 closes 43 security issues. Highlights:
- XSS protection: fixed cross-site scripting in DOCX hyperlinks, the AI assistant name field, the spreadsheet function arguments window, font and style names in the Review panel, the HTML plugin paste flow, and a reflected XSS on the
/baseurlpage. - Safer document conversion: fixed buffer overflows, out-of-bounds reads and writes, and a double free when processing DOC, DOCX, XLS, PPT, PDF, XPS, EMF+ and WMF files, preventing crashes and memory disclosure.
- Macro and PDF sandboxing: closed macro sandbox bypasses (including access to cookies) and blocked execution of embedded JavaScript and malicious file actions in PDF documents.
- File system protection: fixed path traversal, arbitrary file write during archive extraction, local file read during EPUB conversion, OS file access via the Document Builder API, unsafe
runtime.jsonhandling, and privilege escalation via thedocumentserver-flush-cachescript. - Authentication and WOPI: fixed an SSRF in WOPI endpoints, co-editing session hijacking, improper token issuing and reuse for the Document Builder API, an authorization bypass when printing PDF, and authentication of tenants without a configured secret in multitenant mode.
- Dependencies: patched CVE-2022-3602, CVE-2022-3786 (OpenSSL) and CVE-2022-23308, plus other vulnerabilities in the Docker image.
