Creating links in Nextcloud Notes using md syntax does not always work. #7872

Closed

Description

@anderslundx

Typing links in md format, like [link text](https://link.url) does not work if the text is something like name.tld

Steps to reproduce

  1. Type [something.cloud](https://something.cloud/page) in a nextcloud note
  2. Type [something](https://something.cloud/page) in a nextcloud note

Expected behaviour

Both should become proper links as the closing paren of the link is typed.

Actual behaviour

Only the second link is processed - the one without the '.cloud' part of the link text.

    Which editor?

    Do you experience similar behavior if you edit a markdown file in Nextcloud Files (i.e. outside of just Notes)?

    Confirmed, it's an issue with our link input regular expression:

    const linkInputRegex = /(?:^|\s)\[([\w|\s|-]+)\]\((?<href>.+?)\)$/gm

    We probably should adjust the expression to accept anything except square brackets in the link title.
