What is happy hour near me?

When people search for “happy hour near me” they want two things: somewhere close, and the hours it actually runs today. That second part is where most listings fall down — a happy hour moves, a venue drops its Tuesday, a page from 2019 stays up.

Happy Hour Hawk tracks 2,282 venues across 92 cities, and every window on the site carries two extra facts: where the time came from, and the last day a person checked it. That is the difference between a deal somebody confirmed last week and one copied off a menu nobody has touched in years.

Search by city, filter by day, or tap Near me. If you want to know what is pouring this minute rather than this week, Right now works it out in each venue's own local time. After the kitchen shuts, there is late night.

How the times get checked

Every window here carries its own provenance. Some were read straight off the venue's own page and quote the sentence they came from. Some a person checked on a phone call. Some the venue told us itself. Each venue page says which, in plain language — “entered by us · checked 8 days ago” — rather than a green badge that means nothing. Anything nothing stands behind is not listed at all rather than padding the count.

A fixed offset is wrong two weeks a year in most of the country and all year in Arizona, so every time on the site is the venue's own local time. If you are choosing where to take people, the best ones are the long windows with the deals written down and a person's check behind them.

Found one that has moved? Every venue page has a correction link, and it lands in a queue a person reads. That is the whole loop: check it, say where it came from, fix it fast when it changes.

Questions people ask

Happy hour is a set window when a bar or restaurant discounts drinks, food, or both. Most run on weekday afternoons — three to six is the classic — though plenty of places also run a late-night one after the kitchen closes. The deal and the hours are set by the venue, so they vary from bar to bar and change more often than anyone posts.

Search by city, filter by day, or share your location. If you want to know what is pouring this minute rather than this week, the Right Now page works it out in each venue's own local time.

Three to six on weekdays is the most common, but it is not a rule. Some venues start at four, some run until seven, and late-night happy hours often start at ten and run until close. Every window listed here carries the times the venue itself posted, not an average.

Every window says where it came from and when it was last checked. Some were read off the venue's own page and quote the sentence they came from; some were confirmed by a person; some the venue told us directly. Anything we cannot stand behind is not listed at all. Happy hours change, so if you find one that has moved, the correction link on any venue page reaches a real queue.

That is the idea, though what is discounted varies. Some venues cut the price of well drinks and draft beer only; others include wine, cocktails or a bar-snacks menu. Where a venue has written down what is on the deal, it is listed under the times.

Often, yes — plenty of venues run happy hour at the bar and high-tops but not at tables, and some exclude the patio. Where a venue states a restriction like that, it is shown alongside the window rather than buried.
