Pointy-top vs flat-top: Orientation of the hexagon. Pointy-top has a vertex at the top and bottom and stacks into vertical honeycomb columns, the classic avatar look. Flat-top has flat edges top and bottom and suits horizontal rows, badges and wide banners.
Transparent PNG: A PNG with an alpha channel, so everything outside the hexagon is empty rather than white. The checkerboard in the preview marks those transparent areas. JPG cannot store transparency, which is why it asks for a background color.
Clip path: The six-sided outline the image is drawn inside. HexaCrop computes it from real hexagon geometry, which is why the SVG export matches a CSS clip-path polygon exactly instead of approximating it with a mask image.
Tessellation / honeycomb: Hexagons tile with no gaps, which is why they form honeycombs. Spacing controls the gap between cells: zero is a tight comb, positive values separate the tiles, slightly negative values overlap them.
Corner rounding: Replaces each sharp vertex with a curve. Low values keep a technical, geometric read; high values give the soft, friendly silhouette used for app icons and UI avatars.
