I just had my first encounter with a racist person here in Korea. It's probably no coincidence that it is happening now that I'm starting to learn the language, before that I probably just blended them out because I didn't understand what they were saying anyway.
It was a guy in his sixties, saying something about that here is Korea and that it's for Korean people. He also was saying something about my shoes, I have my Birkenstock on because it's very warm today, I guess he didn't like them.
He was not shouting just loudly complaining while looking towards me and my son. I gave him a smile and a thumbs up which irritated him even more, so he dismissed my thumbs up with a wave of with his hand.
