What is Katalon TestOps?
TestOps is the product on Katalon True Platform that delivers next-generation test management and manual testing. It connects requirements, test cases, automated tests, execution, evidence, defects, approvals and releases, across manual, automated and AI-generated testing.
Is TestOps the same thing as Katalon True Platform?
No. Katalon True Platform is the AI platform for software quality. TestOps is one of the four products that form it, alongside Katalon Studio for automation, Runtime Engine and TestCloud for execution, and TrueTest for production insights.
What makes this "next-generation" test management?
It holds a controlled record of AI activity, not just a record of test cases: what an agent generated, what a human approved, what changed and when. And it reports release readiness across manual, automated and AI-generated testing in one view.
Does TestOps handle manual testing, or only automated?
Both, in the same record. Manual test cases carry versioning and change history, steps with expected results and test data, tester assignment, and evidence captured on execution, and manual results report alongside automated ones.
Can I keep using Playwright?
Yes, and we would encourage it. TestOps runs and reports Playwright tests alongside your Studio and manual results. Your existing setup does not change.
Can I use my own LLM instead of Katalon AI?
Yes. Point the platform at your organization's approved model, and let your own agents call it as tools over MCP, REST APIs, CLI, SDKs and webhooks.
Is the AI optional?
Yes. Authorized TestOps admins on your team can enable or disable AI.
How does TestOps compare to TestRail or Zephyr?
Those tools manage the record of testing well. The differences show up in whether manual, Katalon and external-framework evidence land in one place tied to the same requirements, and in what the platform can tell you about AI-generated tests: who approved them, what changed, and whether results reproduce.
What deployment options are available?
