I’ve released Baseplate 2.2, which among other things introduces a new “Pieces collection” for all your loose bricks, many new widgets, and (probably my favorite) searching for sets on eBay, Amazon, or the web. This is a good one!

I’ve just about wrapped work on Arborist 1.3 and plan on releasing that tomorrow, but I’ve also started in on preparing the app so that it can support localizations by adding string catalogs to the app and supporting packages. Shockingly, I’ve got almost 600 strings in there!

For the past 6 years or so I’ve been working on a TextBundle text editor, and this year it’s gotten a whole lot of new features and bug fixes. Today I put together the website for the beta, but I’m nervous to push the button.

Baseplate 2.1 is out with some really nice new features like marking retired sets on the Discover tab and being able to zoom in on a set’s minifigs in a carousel. And a few bugs were squashed along the way too πŸ˜€

I’m really happy with how my Baseplate update is coming along. I’ve been polishing the resizability up (which will help with the iPhone Duo) and I think it’s really nice! Hoping to wrap it up and submit for review this week.

One of the fun parts of adding documentation to Arborist using textbundle files is building out Bindle Writer, the textbundle editor I’ve been working on for many years now. I’ve got better media and metadata handling, and yesterday added support for opening folders.

I’ve made some really great progress on the Arborist 1.2 release. I added support for running tasks defined by Makefiles or mise, and I’m really excited to have this in place.

I’ve been on vacation the last couple of weeks, but had a bit of time to work on things here and there. I’m building out a bunch of support pages for Arborist and decided to lean on textbundles for that since I already have my Maverick blog engine. I’m adapting it to be a more general textbundle content provider (am I building a CMS? I may be building a CMS).

It’s been really cool to see this little blog engine I started years ago evolve to be something more. Still a lot of rough edges to smooth out and content to write but I’m confident this is moving in the right direction.

Made good progress tweaking the Arborist UI, which now has a bottom status bar, and I just spent some time on the sidebar. I had been using a SwiftUI List view but that wasn’t working exactly like I wanted so I swapped it out with an AppKit NSOutlineView. I think this is a very nice improvement.

I’ve been working on the teaching improvements in Arborist to guide new users to how to set things up and I’d played with TipKit a little bit on iOS but didn’t realize it was on macOS too. I think this provides a nice touch without being too intrusive.

I had an animation issue in Arborist that I was fighting, and the new Broadcast library from @mergesort@macaw.social came to the rescue and I was able to fix it really quickly thanks to some well placed logging statements.
