Frequently asked questions
For organizers
How far in advance should we apply?
At least 3 weeks before your event. This gives us time to verify your organization, approve the application, and send you the logo kit and quick-start materials.
Can we apply for multiple hackathons?
Yes. If your organization runs recurring hackathons, submit one application and note it in the form. We'll set up a recurring arrangement so you don't need to reapply each time.
Do participants (non-winners) get anything?
All participants can sign up for MojoAuth's free tier with core passwordless features. Business Pro licenses are reserved for winning teams as a prize.
Can we customize how many licenses go to each winning team?
Yes. Split them however you want - 5 licenses across 5 individual winners, or 5 to a single team of 5 members. Just tell us when you submit the post-event recap.
What if we want more than 10 licenses?
Email us at [email protected] with your event details and expected scale. We're flexible for large flagship events.
Do you provide monetary sponsorship?
This program provides product sponsorship (Business Pro licenses and materials), not cash sponsorship. For large-scale partnerships, contact [email protected].
Can we make MojoAuth a required tool?
We recommend keeping it optional. The best sponsorships empower participants without constraining them. You're welcome to create a MojoAuth-specific challenge track as an option.
For winners
How long does the Business Pro license last?
There is no expiration. Your license remains active for as long as your product stays within the 2,500 MAU limit. This is not a trial - it's a permanent license at this tier.
What happens if my product grows past 2,500 MAUs?
You can upgrade to a paid plan at standard pricing. The transition is seamless - no downtime, no data migration, no reconfiguration.
Can I use this for a commercial product?
Yes. It's a full Business Pro plan with no restrictions on commercial use - SaaS, e-commerce, startup, anything.
What does 2,500 MAUs actually mean?
Any unique user who authenticates at least once during a calendar month. Users who don't log in during a given month aren't counted.
Can I transfer my license?
No. Licenses are non-transferable and tied to the individual or team that won.
What support do I get?
Full Business Pro support - documentation, community Discord, and email support (24-hour response). You're treated as a regular Business Pro customer.
I won a license months ago - can I still activate?
Winners must activate within 30 days of receiving the provisioning email. If you missed the window, email [email protected] and we'll work with you.
About the program
Why does MojoAuth do this?
Auth is the most time-consuming part of hackathon projects - we want to eliminate that. Developers who use MojoAuth early tend to keep using it as their projects grow.
Is this program permanent?
We intend to run Hack Pass as an ongoing program. We review quarterly and may adjust quantities, but existing winner licenses are never revoked or downgraded.
How is this different from the free tier?
The free tier includes basic passwordless auth. Business Pro adds passkeys, Phone OTP, Authenticator OTP, MFA, One Tap Login, more social providers, a custom domain, branded templates, and a 99.9% uptime SLA.
