Questions

What do I get?+
Your own macOS machine on Apple silicon, with root: a full desktop OS, not a sandbox. Xcode 27 comes installed, with Xcode 26.6 beside it for older projects, plus Homebrew, Node, Python and CocoaPods. Your agent connects over MCP, the CLI, the API or SSH, and installs anything else you use, from Flutter to Expo.
Can my agent do anything on it?+
Yes. Sudo needs no password, there are no administrator password prompts, and the permission and password dialogs macOS still shows are answered automatically. The screen never locks, so nothing waits for a person. To test your app’s own prompts, turn this off when you start the Mac.
Can it run the iOS Simulator?+
Yes, iPhones and iPads on iOS 27 and iOS 26.5. Your agent drives them with simctl and takes screenshots and recordings, and you can open the Mac’s full desktop in your browser to watch or click along.
Who else is on my Mac?+
Nobody. Every session is a fresh machine that nothing outside it can reach. When you stop, the Mac is deleted with everything on it, credentials included, except your account’s drive at ~/drive, which is kept for your next Mac. Pull anything else back first with nomac pull.
Does anything stay between sessions?+
Yes. Every Mac has your account’s 50 GB drive at ~/drive, the same on every Mac. Keep your projects there and the next Mac picks up where the last one stopped, with Xcode’s build cache and your packages, so builds stay incremental. It is saved, encrypted, when the Mac stops, at no extra charge, and deleted after 90 days without a Mac.
How does my agent get my API keys and secrets?+
Add them once at nomac.app/secrets or with nomac secrets set, and every new Mac receives them: variables in every command’s environment, files at their path. Values are encrypted, masked in command output, and never returned by any API, so they never pass through the chat.
Can it sign and ship my app?+
Yes. Connect your App Store Connect key once, and your agent sets up signing for the app and its extensions, uploads builds to TestFlight and submits them for App Review when you confirm. Mac apps can be notarized too.
How does billing work?+
$0.80 an hour, billed by the minute from the moment your Mac is ready until it stops. Setup is free and there’s a one-minute minimum, so a five-minute build costs about 7¢. You pay from prepaid credit that never expires, and nothing is charged beyond it: each session has a $5 cap by default, and your agent hands you a payment link when credit runs low.
Is it cheaper if I buy more?+
Yes. Bigger top-ups come with bonus credit: 5% from $30, 10% from $50 and 20% at $100, so $100 buys $120 of Mac time (150 hours). Bonus credit never expires, but it isn’t refundable and is removed if the purchase is refunded.
What can I use it for?+
Software development: building, testing and shipping apps, CI/CD jobs and the developer tools around them. Apple’s macOS licence allows cloud Macs for software development only, so NoMac isn’t for general desktop use, office work or hosting services.
Do I need a Mac or an Apple account?+
No Mac. Write the app on Windows, Linux or anything else; only the build, signing and upload happen here. An Apple Developer membership is needed only to sign and ship to TestFlight or the App Store, as on any Mac.
