Make your own 88×31 button

Old personal sites often ended with a row of tiny 88×31 buttons. Each one was a small sign of who made the site and what they liked, and they're still fun to make. Anyone can now make one at scribbles.page/buttons, the 88×31 Button Maker. It's free, needs no account and works signed out. It starts from the "MADE BY / A HUMAN" preset. The main button reads "Download PNG" for a still design and "Download GIF" for an animated one, and it switches between the two on its own. • "Top line" and "Bottom line": up to 15 characters each,...

Every new blog gets its own scribbles.page address

Every new blog on Scribbles now gets its own address, <slug>.scribbles.page, so it has a home that belongs to it alone. There is a plan about this, and you can manually move your own to the subdomain. Your blog's own addressWhen you create a new blog, its name (the slug) becomes the first part of its address. A new address stays pending until it works and is provisioned, so nobody sees an error page while it's being set up. Should be quite fast. Custom themes now need the blog's own address. If you already use a custom theme, you keep...

Share button and media embeds on custom themes

Your readers can now share a post in one tap, and media embeds load again on custom themes that use Scribbles. ✨ Share button: you can add a share button to the bottom of your posts. Go to Settings → Contact → Share and turn on Show share button. On phones and other devices with a share sheet, it opens that sheet, so readers can send your post to a friend in a couple of taps. Where there's no share sheet, the button copies the link instead. If "🔗 Share this post" doesn't sound like you, change it under Button...

Markdown import, callouts, and Analytics widgets

You can bring your Markdown notes over, add callouts to your posts, and show a hit counter and countries in your footer — with a little celebration when someone gives kudos. ✨ Markdown import: if your writing lives in Markdown files rather than WordPress, you can now import it too. Go to Settings → Export & import → Import and choose Markdown next to WordPress. Upload a single .md or .markdown file, or a .zip of notes exported from Bear or Mataroa. If your files have YAML front matter, Scribbles uses it for the title, date, slug, draft, category and...

Clearer Email Changes and a Calmer Explore

A clearer message when you change your email, and a calmer Explore. September 1st, 2026• 🐛 Confirm email — if you change your email and someone else has taken that address by the time you click the confirmation link, you now get a clear message instead of a dead end: “That email is already in use. Sign in, or pick a different one.” Your pending change is kept. September 11th–14th, 2026• ✨ Explore — Fresh posts on Explore now keep one busy writer from filling the list. Each person's first four posts in 48 hours show straight away, and anything...

Changelog August 28th

Small thing, to avoid confusion on Comments and (Komments) — you see? August 28, 2026• 💅 Komments API key — on Blog settings → Comments, paste the key from Komments dashboard → Settings → API. It now makes sure it's not the widget or iframe HTML, or other code. If you paste those, it says this field wants the API key. I may add support for other third-party commenting systems — at this stage I still don't want to write my own — maybe end of year.
