How it works

Three things to know. That's it.

If you can open an app, you already know most of it.

  1. Step 1: Open anything

Launch an app the way you always do. TileMyMac gives it a spot in your row.

  2. Step 2: It finds its place

The new window lands right after the one you're using. Everything else stays exactly the size it was.

  3. Step 3: Glide along

Hold Control + Option and tap an arrow, or swipe on the trackpad, to move along the row.

Learn the shortcuts

Learn it in 2 minutes.

You only need five shortcuts to get going. Here's what the symbols mean and a pad to practise on. Test-drive it here

⌃Control
⌥Option
⇧Shift
⌘Command

Every shortcut starts with Control + Option held together. Control + Option together is a combo almost no app uses, so TileMyMac never gets in the way of your other shortcuts. Prefer other keys? You can start them with Option, or Command + Option, in Settings.

Questions

Good questions, short answers.

Never used anything like this before? Start here.

What exactly does TileMyMac do?

It keeps your windows side by side in a tidy row, so nothing gets buried under something else. Open a new app and it takes the next spot in your row, while the windows already there keep their size. More windows than fit on screen? Slide along with a swipe or a shortcut. (Techies call this a scrolling window manager.)

Do I need to be technical?

No. If you can use the Dock and a couple of keyboard shortcuts, you can use TileMyMac. Setup takes about a minute, and everything is changed by clicking in a settings window, never by editing files.

Is it safe?

Yes. It doesn't change any system settings. The first time you open it, macOS asks you once to let TileMyMac arrange your windows (that's the only permission it needs), and you can switch it off anytime in System Settings.

Can I go back to how my Mac was?

Yes, anytime. Pause it from the menu bar icon or just quit the app. Your windows stay right where they are, and nothing is closed or changed. You can move them by hand again like always.

What if I forget a shortcut?

Click the TileMyMac icon in the menu bar: it lists every shortcut. The first time you open the app, a short guided practice walks you through the five you'll use most.

Can I still use my mouse and trackpad?

Yes. Click any window to bring it into view, or swipe with four fingers (or three, if you prefer) to slide the row. Clicking, dragging and scrolling inside your apps work exactly as before. The first time you open TileMyMac, it checks your trackpad settings and helps you change one thing if needed.

Can I try it before buying?

There's no trial, but the playground and the MacBook demo on this page behave the way the app does. Press the shortcuts and click around to get a feel for it before you buy.

How do I get my license?

After you buy, you'll get a license key by email. Open TileMyMac, paste the key when it asks (or use Enter License Key… in the menu bar), and it starts arranging your windows right away.

Isn't TileMyMac built on Paneru? Why pay?

Yes. TileMyMac's window engine is the open-source Paneru (MIT), and we credit it. TileMyMac adds everything around it: a settings window instead of config files, guided setup with shortcut practice, Canvas layout, a Mac Setup check that spots missing permissions, updates and email support. If you're happy editing a TOML file, Paneru is great. If you want it to just work, that's TileMyMac.

Is TileMyMac safe to install?

Yes. TileMyMac is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, which means Apple has checked it for malware, so it opens without any warnings. The only permission it asks for is Accessibility, so it can move and resize your windows.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If TileMyMac isn't right for you, email support@tilemymac.app within 7 days of purchase for a full refund.

Which macOS versions does it support?

macOS 13 Ventura and later.

Does it work with more than one screen?

Yes. Every screen you plug in gets a row of its own, so you can keep work on one and chat on the other.

Still unsure?

Ask ChatGPT or Claude about it.

They'll read this page and give you an honest answer.
