The more consistent one's experiences, the more one believes they understand "the real world." The more insular one's experiences, the more consistent. "Real world" is merely a descriptive term people use for the stories they tell themselves about their own experiences.

It is so weird that, contrary to narrative, it is the Republican Party (the party of my birth state) that is actually turning the US into the USSR and not the allegedly “socialist” Democratic Party. 1960s GOP wouldn’t recognize this version, and the way their dreams died.

If I say “height is proportional to income; tall people earn more”, a billion people say “oh, yeah? What about Tom Cruise and what about…” and all up in arms about there being no proven proportionality. SAFe says “a story point is half a day” and people say “okay”
