I've been enjoying being able to make tea more frequently and eat hot foods more.

Feed Readers

Reading Blogs

I really enjoy reading blogs.
I read blogs about tabletop games and programming and Consumer Protections in the UK.
I also read friend's blogs and use them to keep up with them.
When reading a lot of blogs, it's helpful to have a way to find them all in one place.

Web Feed Readers

A feed reader is an application that can compile feeds from a bunch of different blogs, and display them in one place.
Most blogs have a feed, especially ones on a larger blogging platform, like Blogger,
even if they don't explicitly say so.
You can usually just "subscribe" to the blog using its URL, and your feed reader will automatically detect the feed.
Usually that looks like tapping the "Subscribe", "+", or "Add feed" button
and pasting in the URL of the blog you want to subscribe to
(or its feed if you can find that).

Feed readers are great for reading blogs.
They allow you to sort by the date things are posted, instead of "relevance."
They show just the blogs that you have subscribed to, or a group of them,
so there isn't an infinite scroll.
When you have read all of the posts on blogs you have subscribed to, that's it.
I find reading feeds much less addicting than scrolling on social media because of this.
It's also easy to switch feed readers, you can usually just export an "OPML" file
(which is the standard on most feed readers)
and import it into your new reader.

More about Feeds

You might also see "RSS" or "Atom" used to refer to feeds.
This refers to the format that the feed is in as it's read by your feed reader.
About Feeds is a good resource if you want to learn about feeds and feed readers.
About Feeds also has a list of feed readers.
Two that I would add are CommaFeed, which is what I use right now and ReadFlow, which is another minimal option.
You definitely don't need a to pay for a subscription.
There are good free feed readers.

Making Your Own Blog

If you want to make a simple blog that has a feed for free, try Bear Blog or Mataroa Blog.
You can sign up for free in less than a minute.

This book is a cognitve approach to getting better at programming.

It walks through different ways to reduce your confusion and cognitive load.
It talks about how different cognitive processes relate to programming,
and has exercises for practicing each of them deliberatly.

I found it most helpful to read a few chapters,
then try to practice and implement those ideas in my work before moving on.
I would recommend reading it if you get the chance.

Good support.

Git Remote: Codeberg

Projects won't get found or indexed like on Github,
but it is more friendly, less AI-ified, and has had better uptime than Github recently.

Messaging: Signal

Not too much feature creep and no adds.
Remember your backup codes.

Vector Graphics: Inkscape
