This app makes the Kindle Fire so much better than any other streaming box. Took me 5 minutes to get this app, plug in my xbox controller and stream games from my PC to my Television. Used 200 Mbps Powerline networking. This also works on the many generic android streaming boxes out there, but you never know what support will be like.

Here is how to play steam games. This will open the Steam Big Picture App and then you can select any steam game.

Make a shortcut to "steam://open/bigpicture" somewhere(no quotes), and manually add it to your gamestream list (GeForce Experience > Preferences > GameStream, click the green + and select your shortcut). When you open Limelight, just select the shortcut instead of a specific game. Steam Big Picture will open and you can play any steam game through Limelight.

If you have a non-steam game that Limelight won't stream, just add it to your steam library :

    Launch Steam.

Click the Games menu, choose Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library.

Browse for games on your computer or put a check next to the game(s) you wish to add to the Library.

    Click Add Selected Programs

So far this is an awesome app. Setup was fairly easy after I forwarded the correct ports on my router instead of disabling the firewall completely. As others have mentioned, you can stream games, steam big picture, etc without any issues. Still testing some settings to be able to use the full 1080p60fps. I have my computer via ethernet and fire tv on wifi (5Ghz) and it was a little choppy with delayed input controls so turned it down to 720p60fps and had no issues. But this is not an issue with the app as far as I can tell and more so the speed of the connection instead. Ideally you would want to have both hooked up via ethernet.

Great app! I bought a Fire TV and two controllers hoping to be able to game a little with my wife. There are no local co-op games in the amazon app store. Emulators worked ok, but this app makes gaming a real joy on the Fire TV. Played a few local co-op steam games with her and some borderlands 2 by myself. Streams 1080p 30fps without a problem over wifi (so long as that's the only traffic) Otherwise I had to settle for 720p/30fps.

Great app for streaming controller based games only.

Love the app! Quality great, no lag, full 1080p 60hz.

Only downside is you are limited to controller based games only unless you root your device, double cursor issue. Why? Why would amazon let a third party app be available that will possibly make u want to root, possibly brick your device just to use a mouse. Civilization V is completely unplayable unless I root my fire tv. I refuse to do that. I've already had issues with my 1st fire tv and the help was great, why void that? I have a hundred plus games through steam and only a handful of them u can use a controller with. Steam needs a client streamer for fire tv, I don't want to use my surface pro as my steam link. I can deal with it but I hate switching device's to play games on one tv. Overall, if u don't mind the extra effort switching devices and/or only sticking to controller based games, great app. If you choose root/possibly brick your device, voiding warranty just to use a mouse, that's your deal. I find it confusing, why? Why not just fix the mouse issue, who gains to make you root the device for a simple mouse. Doesn't make sense.

Very poor latency, which impacts some games requiring precise input (Thumper).

My settings are 1080p 60fps, 20 Mb/s. The latency is ~30-40ms on the FireTV 2nd gen.

To compare, I have Moonlight running on the very first Android TV device, the Nexus Player. On that device, using the same quality settings, I get a consistent 10ms latency.

I suspect there's some tuning necessary for the new chips. The hardware should be easily able to handle the quality settings.

Excellent app to turn your Amazon Fire TV (or any android device for that matter) into a GameStream client! Works with a bunch of different controllers, and even keyboard/mouse setups!

    Fire TV 1st Gen (5.0.5.1)

    720p@30fps - 12-15ms latency!

    720p@60fps - 20-22ms latency

    Fire TV 2nd Gen (5.0.5.1)

    720p@30fps - 55ms latency

    720p@60fps - 60-75ms latency

    Fire TV Stick (5.0.5)

    720p@30fps - 30-35ms latency

    720p@60fps - 55ms latency

    LG G4 (Snapdragon 808, Android 6.0 Stock)

    720p@60fps - 25ms latency

a great app works very well for streaming steam to my amazon fire tv box with no lag that i can see. only problem is that i have a problem logging out on the associated nvidia game streaming app on my pc and it seems to then reorganise my desktop when i do so! i think this is a problem with nvidia not moonlight tho.
