Ship internal tools faster.
The database is built in.

ToolJet Database is built on PostgreSQL. Create tables for inventory, requests or task tracking, then build forms and dashboards on that data. Use the visual editor and query builder, with SQL when you need it.

Image
Point-and-click. Production-grade.
Create and manage relational databases through a visual interface - no SQL, no terminal, no database admin. Built on PostgreSQL, so your data stays structured and reliable as your apps grow.
Visual Table Builder
Create tables, add columns, and set data types through a spreadsheet-like UI. Define your schema without writing a single line of code.

Foreign Keys and Joins
Link tables with foreign key relationships and query across them with visual joins - Inner, Left, Right, and Full Outer. Real relational power, no SQL needed.
ImageImage
Constraints and Integrity
Primary keys, unique constraints, and not-null rules enforced at the database level. Your data stays clean as your team and apps scale.

Manage data without touching the terminal
Browse, filter, sort, and bulk-import records through a visual editor. Your ops and business teams can work with data directly.
Inline Cell Editing
Double-click any cell to update it. Open the row drawer for a full-form view when records get complex.

Advanced Filtering
Stack multiple filter conditions - equals, contains, regex, null checks - and sort any column. Find exactly the data you need.
ImageImage
Bulk Import
Upload CSV files with up to 1,000 rows at a time. Matching IDs update existing records, so imports are safe to re-run.

Query your data without writing code
Use the visual query builder to list, filter, join, and aggregate data. Need more control? SQL is available too. Either way, results bind straight to your app components.
Visual Query Builder
List, create, update, delete, and join tables through a point-and-click interface. Anyone on your team can query data without writing code.

Aggregations and Filters
Count, sum, and group results with multi-condition logic. Stack filters with operators like equals, contains, and regex - all from the visual builder.

SQL When You Need It
For advanced use cases, write raw SQL queries or connect directly to the underlying PostgreSQL database on self-hosted deployments.

Built for teams that ship internal tools fast.

Store new app data in ToolJet Database, or connect an existing system of record through an integration. Cloud manages the built-in database infrastructure; Self-hosted keeps it in your deployment. Read the database guide.

ImageReady in Seconds

Build on ToolJet Database without connecting a separate data source. Cloud handles setup; Self-hosted administrators configure the database services during deployment.

ImageEnterprise-Grade Security

Access goes through ToolJet's authentication layer. Configure app and resource permissions, then test access to sensitive records.

Image8 Supported Data Types

serial, varchar, int, bigint, float, boolean, date with time, and jsonb - covering everything from simple text to structured nested data.

ImageDirect App Binding

Bind query results to tables, charts, forms and dropdowns. Connect user actions to queries that create or update records.

Frequently asked questions

What is ToolJet Database?
ToolJet Database is the database built into ToolJet, on top of PostgreSQL. Create tables, define relationships and manage records in a spreadsheet-like editor, then query them from your apps like any other data source.
Do I need to set up or host a separate database?
App builders can use ToolJet Database without connecting a separate data source. ToolJet Cloud manages the database infrastructure for you. On Self-hosted deployments, your administrator configures and operates the PostgreSQL and PostgREST services as part of the ToolJet deployment.
Can I write SQL against ToolJet Database?
Yes. Use the visual query builder for everyday reads and writes, or the SQL editor to write and run more complex SQL queries directly on your ToolJet Database.
Does ToolJet Database support relationships between tables?
Yes. Primary keys uniquely identify each record, and foreign keys link tables while keeping referential integrity. Column types include serial, varchar, int, bigint, float, boolean, date with time and jsonb.
Who can access the data in ToolJet Database?
Tables are only accessible within your ToolJet organization. Access goes through ToolJet's authentication layer. Configure app and resource permissions, and test who can read or change sensitive records before rollout.
When should I use ToolJet Database instead of an existing database?
Use ToolJet Database for new app data such as approval requests, inventory records or internal task tracking. Keep an existing PostgreSQL, MySQL or other system as the source of truth when it already owns the data, and connect it through a ToolJet integration. An app can query both; connecting an external database does not copy it into ToolJet Database.
How would I build an inventory or approval app with ToolJet Database?
For inventory, create related tables for items, locations and stock movements, then connect forms and tables to queries. For approvals, model requests, statuses and decision records. These are example designs: configure allowed actions, validate writes and test concurrent updates and access rules for your own app.
