For almost 20 years, ALNAP 's State of the Humanitarian System report has tracked how international humanitarian action is performing. The 2026 edition arrives at a pivotal moment.
Drawing on evidence from crises across the globe, the report assesses how the humanitarian system performed during 2022-2025, a period marked by escalating humanitarian needs, major geopolitical shifts and the largest contraction in humanitarian funding in recent history. It examines what is working, what is not, and what today's pressures mean for the future of humanitarian action.
Join us for a presentation of the headline findings exploring what the evidence tells us about the state of humanitarian action today. Humanitarian leaders and practitioners will then examine what these findings mean for the future, including how the humanitarian system has responded to growing pressures to prioritise; who holds power; what makes humanitarian action efficient and effective; and how can humanitarian actors remain principled and accountable in an increasingly complex world.
There will be live interpretation into Arabic, French and Spanish.
