For the past 3 years, every September, CA Church has participated in an annual food drive across all campuses. Food insecurity is a global issue, and in many parts of the world, access to food is extremely limited. There are no food banks, no social programs and no safety nets. But food insecurity exists locally as well, here in Coquitlam and beyond.
That’s why, this year, we are excited to introduce our newly renamed More Than a Meal Campaign.
Why did we change the name? Because when we provide food to hungry children and families, we are giving them so much more than a meal. Food can bridge a gap and open a door to relationship, providing an opportunity to show and tell others about the love of Jesus. This follows a common biblical theme where we are taught to care for the poor and those who are suffering. What begins with meeting a physical need can become an opportunity to bring hope and, ultimately, the Good News of Jesus to those who desperately need to hear it.
Through our global partners in Mexico, the Middle East and countries across Africa, we see this in underground churches and rural communities, where food has opened the door for connection and church plants. We see the same locally through our newly emerging Community Cafe, where people can share a meal, shop at our low-cost market, and find nourishment through meaningful friendship and conversation.
This year, once again, we have faithful donors who have pledged matching donations. That means every dollar you give will be doubled! So would you consider joining us in reaching our goal of raising $80,000 through this year’s Food Drive?
Every donation counts, whether big or small, and will be used to make an eternal difference. Thank you for enabling us to continue CA’s legacy of caring for those in need.
