We ask for age-related information like your birthday, in part, to make sure teens and adults are in the best experience for their age group. As a teen, you should know that you need to be at least 13 years old to use Pinterest. If you don't meet our minimum age requirements for your location, you can't open a Pinterest account or use our tools and features.

Your default profile visibility settings depend on your age and the type of account you have. Review the table below for details and learn more about your privacy settings and options below.

Keep yourself—and your information—safe on Pinterest. Here are the settings you can change on your personal or business account, and some of the ones you can't.

Adding a last name to your profile is optional. You can use a nickname or leave off your last name to help keep your identity private.

If you’re under 18, your profile will be private. This means your profile won’t be discoverable and your activity on Pinterest will be hidden, but you can invite people you trust to follow you. If you're over 16, you can choose to make your profile public in your settings. No matter your age, you're in control of who you're in contact with.

If you’re under 16, the boards and Pins you create will only be visible to you and people you invited to follow you. You can collaborate on a group board with the people you know as long as you're old enough to have a Pinterest account. 

You can save Pins or leave comments on Pins that you find inspiring to connect with others, and the comments you leave can be viewed by other people. If you’re under 18, comments will be automatically turned off on Pins you create until you turn 18. You can adjust this in your comment settings at any time. To turn off comments on a single Pin, click or tap  more options icon , then select Edit Pin comment settings.

If you're under 16, you can exchange messages with mutual followers. As you get older, your settings will adjust to allow you to contact more people. While our default settings are designed to allow safe connections with people you know, you can always change your settings to make them more strict.

You can only be added to a group chat by people you follow and who follow you back. When you receive a group chat invite, you can choose to accept or decline it. Be sure to review the chat and its participants before accepting any group message invitations.

We use information about your activity on and off Pinterest to help personalize your experience on the platform. Review your privacy and data settings to adjust how we use some of the information about you. If you're under 18 in the EU or UK, note that you’re automatically opted out of all ads personalization settings. You'll be opted in when you turn 18, but you can adjust this in your settings at any time.

Turn on two-factor authentication to protect your account from people who try logging in without your approval.

We're proud to be a space to find inspiration, but we know there's a time and a place for scrolling. We’re running an experiment and if you open the Pinterest app during the school day, you may see a reminder to put down your phone, pause notifications, and focus on school.

You can send a report if you see a Pin, comment, message, board or account that doesn’t seem right. Click or tap  more options icon  on the content you want to report and select Report. Select the most accurate reason, then follow the prompts to provide details.

In most cases, you can submit a report without sharing your identity. However, in Brazil, if you submit a report under the Digital Child and Adolescent Act, it cannot be anonymous.

We'll remove or limit the distribution of content that contributes to an unsafe environment, and people won’t know if you’ve reported them.

You can block people or business accounts if you want to stop them from following you, messaging you, or interacting with your Pins. From the profile of the person you want to block, click or tap  the ellipsis icon  and select Block.

You may access or edit your personal data, or you can choose to delete your personal data.
