“You have to go to school… This industry, this job, isn’t for you. Go out and seek better.” At 17, Israel Sanchez sold his first patent. Now at UC Berkeley, he’s charting a new path to bring engineering and innovation back to the agricultural community where he grew up.

mechanical engineering student Israel Sanchez sits on the left with his quote featured on the right in white text over a dark blue background.

The quote reads: "That was the first time I ever heard those words, and I truly felt like that was my actual point where I could take flight. And Berkeley was the northern star.”

Dogs have an extraordinary sense of smell — and @dognosis is exploring how to harness it for cancer screening. UC Berkeley alum Akash Kulgod (B.A. Cognitive Science ’06) co-founded the company, which aims to standardize and scale the approach for earlier detection.

UC Berkeley researchers found that semaglutide, a GLP-1 drug, extended the lifespan of older, healthy mice by an average of 100 days. The treatment also improved muscle and cognitive function, offering new clues about how GLP-1s may affect health and longevity.

A new @Nature study led by @BerkeleyMetBio researchers Yufan Feng and Danica Chen found that semaglutide, a GLP-1 medication sold as Ozempic and Wegovy, slows physiological aging and extends the lifespan of older, healthy mice. Read more about the study: mbn.berkeley.edu/news/late-life…
