About WAVE Workshop
The Women in Algorithms, Venture into Exploration (WAVE) works to open doors to Theoretical Computer Science (TCS) research. Our target audience therefore includes undergraduate and graduate students and early-career researchers who are still exploring their research directions or simply curious about TCS. Participants of all genders are encouraged to attend, as all topics discussed are relevant to everyone in the field.
The workshop will feature introductory technical talks spanning different TCS areas, alongside personal reflections on academic and career pathways presented by outstanding female researchers. This is aimed at inspiring and supporting more women in joining the field. The program will also include a panel discussion on current challenges in TCS, with particular emphasis on issues faced by early-career researchers and broader questions of diversity. Both female and male panelists will participate, reflecting the importance of collective efforts across the community in addressing these challenges. A student-led poster session will also be included to provide opportunities for participants to share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment.
WAVE 2026 will take place on 11 September 2026 at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The workshop is free to attend, though registration is required by 7 September 2026. Thanks to the support from ELLIIT, we are able to provide some travel support for participants from Sweden (please specify your eligibility on the registration form).
WAVE 2026 is funded by Carlsberg Foundation (grant CF26-0847) and ELLIIT. We also appreciate the support from VILLUM FONDEN, BARC, and University of Copenhagen, .
