About me

Avah Xiao

My name is Avah. I'm an undergraduate computer science student at the University of British Columbia. I'm a software lead at Thunderbots, UBC's autonomous robot soccer engineering design team that competes at the international RoboCup competition. I'm also a chair of the hackathon committee in UBC Vancouver's Science Undergraduate Society; we organize an annual hackathon, Hack the Coast.

I started programming since I found Khan Academy's Hour of Code in elementary school, and it has been the primary focus I put all my time into. I went through many phases in my coding journey: competitive programming (CCC), full-stack web development, game development, attending hackathons, teaching code, electronics/firmware, open-source contribution, content creation, and now robotics.

Aside from computer programming, I'm also a photographer that has done a few freelance gigs, but I mostly take photos and put together albums as a hobby. My other creative interests include videography, writing blog posts, and content creation on YouTube.

This is my personal website. I hope for it to act as a place I can direct anyone that wants to know more about me, along with somewhere I can upload artifacts from my creative hobbies.
