Knittyguild (this place) is the home of Knitty Readers on the web, where they get early access to every issue (and other rewards), behind-the-scenes info about how we make Knitty, learn about the people who create the great stuff we share, give input into important decisions we make, and more! And because of their support, Knitty Magazine remains free for everyone in the world to enjoy! Where we came from: In 2002, Knitty freaked people out. We published the first issue of our online knitting magazine when there was nothing else like it on the internet. It was completely free, and it didn’t suck. In fact, it was pretty good and it surprised a lot of people. What we do: I created Knitty to collect knitting talent from all over the web and publish it in one professional-looking place where it would be properly edited, showcased and get the recognition it deserved from knitters worldwide. And that’s what we’ve continued to do, for the last 24 years: seek out and publish amazing knitting patterns, encourage and expose more inspiring work from budding knitwear designers, share great patterns from names you already know and love, and showcase great knitting yarns and products. And now we've added crochet to our repertoire! Do you have to pay to read Knitty? Absolutely not. Knitty will still come out every 3 months absolutely free, for as long as we’re able to produce it. But could you pay? Would you contribute a few dollars an Issue to thank the contributors for their work and to make sure it can continue? What do you get in return? The different reward levels can be found behind the "membership options" button. I hope there's one that feels right to you. Thanks to Knittyguild: we were able to raise the amount we pay our staff and contributors (writers and designers) in 2016, 2023, and 2026. we transformed new Knitty issues into a much more mobile-friendly format we reduced all our Ad prices and increased Ad sizes to help small businesses we created $10 Bizcard ads in 2020 so no small business was left out we have reworked our Library so back issues, patterns and articles are much easier to find we can count on regular funds to keep Knitty alive and thriving! How it works: You're billed on the date you sign up, and then every following month on that same date for the amount you chose. You get the rewards promised in your chosen tier, and messages from me throughout the year! And you help this grassroots-fed tiny business make a magazine that's available to yarn crafters all over the world for free, four times a year (plus surprise patterns between issues).
