The following summary is intended to help the community understand what kind of Code of Conduct (CoC) incidents we received reports about in the year since the previous conference, and how the CppCon CoC team and organizers responded.
Overview
Again at CppCon 2026, staff and volunteers participated in CoC training prior to the conference.
The Code of Conduct team for CppCon 2026 was Colleen Passard (chair), Gillian Faith, and Jacqueline McCauley. Colleen Passard additionally served as on-site Ombudsperson.
The code of conduct for CppCon 2026 was published here, inclusive of commits up to and including 4c03199.
Summary of reports
Since the CppCon 2025 Transparency Report and during CppCon 2026, there were two CoC incidents reported to the CoC Team, both during the CppCon 2026 conference.
Report 1: The Ombuds received a report of inappropriate and unwelcome comments directed at an attendee and determined that the comments violated the Code of Conduct. At the impacted person’s request, the reported party was asked to leave the conference floor for the remainder of the day and refrain from further contact with those impacted. The reported party complied and later acknowledged that the comments were inappropriate. Following its review, the CoC Team issued a formal warning and directed the individual not to approach or contact those impacted in any form at future CppCon events.
Report 2: The Ombuds received a report from multiple attendees concerning remarks made by a speaker during a conference presentation. The CoC Team reviewed the relevant recording and determined that a portion of the remarks violated the Code of Conduct because they were inflammatory and inconsistent with its expectations for professional and respectful communication. The CoC Team directed that portion to be removed before the recording was published and issued the speaker a formal warning letter.
A formal warning from the CoC Team includes that failure to adhere to the warning’s feedback, or any future determination that the person has again violated the Code of Conduct, may result in additional consequences up to and including restrictions on participation in future CppCon events.
Attendee Engagement with the CoC Office and Ombuds
Attendees shared positive feedback about the conference’s atmosphere, sponsors, and growing community.
The accessible location of the Ombuds office contributed to a steady flow of informal visits. Attendees stopped by for conversation and confidential support on a range of personal and professional concerns.
The Ombuds also met with attendees about broader concerns within the C++ community and provided a confidential space to discuss them. These concerns were shared with the CoC Team, which determined that they fell outside the scope of the CppCon Code of Conduct.
The Ombuds provides confidential support and helps attendees understand their options. The Ombuds role extends beyond the formal CoC process and does not replace it. Attendees are informed of their option to make a formal report and can receive support from the Ombuds and CoC Team throughout that process.

We are thrilled to announce that CppCon 2026 will host an exclusive audience preview screening of Boost.Documentary on September 16th.
