Inspiration
Every student has experienced the same feeling: staring at a long list of assignments, upcoming exams, and deadlines without knowing where to begin. Existing planners and calendar apps organize tasks, but they rarely adapt to the individual behind the screen.
We wanted to build something different. Instead of another productivity app, we envisioned an AI study companion that understands each student's unique learning style, workload, and goals. Inspired by the hackathon theme, "Conjure Reality," we asked ourselves:
What if AI could bring a student's ideal study journey into reality?
That's how AlignIQ was born.
What it does
AlignIQ is an AI-powered personalized study pilot that transforms the way students plan, learn, and stay organized.
Instead of simply displaying assignments and deadlines, AlignIQ analyzes a student's coursework, schedule, study habits, available time, and academic goals to generate a personalized study journey. The AI intelligently prioritizes tasks, recommends what to study next, and adapts as new assignments or schedule changes occur.
Designed around the hackathon theme "Conjure Reality," AlignIQ brings a student's ideal learning experience into reality by turning overwhelming workloads into a clear, actionable roadmap. Rather than guessing where to start, students receive personalized guidance that helps them stay focused, reduce stress, and make consistent progress toward their academic goals.
How we built it
We built AlignIQ by combining AI, modern web technologies, and immersive projection to create an engaging and interactive study experience. -Adobe Express was used to design our animated introduction, promotional graphics, and presentation assets. Figma was used to design and prototype the user interface, user flows, and interactive dashboard. -LightGuide transformed our project from a traditional screen demo into an immersive tabletop projection, allowing visitors to experience AlignIQ in a unique and memorable way. -Gemini API powers the AI behind AlignIQ, generating personalized study plans, intelligent recommendations, and adaptive guidance based on each student's schedule, coursework, and goals. -ElevenLabs was used to give our AI study pilot a natural, conversational voice, creating a more engaging and human-like interaction. -GitHub enabled collaborative development, version control, and seamless teamwork throughout the hackathon.
Challenges we ran into
-One of our biggest challenges was balancing functionality with simplicity. Students already use multiple platforms like Canvas, Google Calendar, and note-taking apps, so we wanted AlignIQ to feel intuitive rather than overwhelming. Designing an interface that presented meaningful insights without clutter required several iterations.
Another challenge was integrating multiple technologies within the limited timeframe of a hackathon. Connecting the Gemini API for personalized AI responses, incorporating ElevenLabs for voice interaction, and creating a seamless experience alongside our LightGuide projection required careful coordination and rapid problem-solving.
We also spent significant time refining our UI/UX to ensure the dashboard was clean, engaging, and easy to navigate while still showcasing enough functionality to demonstrate our vision.
