Breathflow

Functional Health Tracking + Movement Support at Home

Stay active. Maintain function. Age with confidence.

Breathflow helps older adults and their caregivers understand how physical function changes over time using video-based movement tracking at home.

Breathflow works with live webcam video or pre-recorded video. An older adult can perform movements in front of a computer camera, or a caregiver, family member, or the older adult can record a movement session and upload the video.

Breathflow analyzes movement across sessions to identify changes in areas such as mobility, balance, coordination, range of motion, and movement consistency.

It also provides guided movement activities to help people stay active and create opportunities for ongoing functional tracking.

The focus is not simply whether someone exercised. It is how their functional movement is changing over time.

No wearables. No special equipment.

The Problem

Changes in physical function often happen gradually.

An older adult may slowly:

  • move less
  • become less steady
  • lose strength or flexibility
  • become less confident walking or turning
  • spend more time sitting
  • become less consistent with activity

These changes can be difficult to recognize from day to day.

Healthcare visits provide important assessments, but they offer only occasional snapshots of how someone is functioning.

There is a need for a simpler way to observe functional movement between visits.

The Solution

Breathflow creates a longitudinal view of functional movement at home.

Instead of treating every exercise session as an isolated workout, Breathflow compares movement across sessions to help identify whether function is:

Stable · Improving · Changing

For example:

Stable: Mobility has remained consistent over recent sessions.

Improving: Balance and movement consistency have improved compared with previous sessions.

Changing: Movement speed has gradually decreased over recent sessions.

The goal is to make gradual functional changes easier to notice and understand.

How Breathflow Works

1. Capture Movement

Breathflow supports two ways to provide video:

Live webcam

The older adult performs movements in front of a computer camera.

Pre-recorded video

The older adult, caregiver, or family member records movement and uploads the video.

This means the older adult does not have to operate the technology themselves. A caregiver can record a short movement session and submit it for analysis.

2. Analyze Function

Breathflow analyzes video-based movement patterns across sessions, looking at areas such as:

  • balance
  • mobility
  • coordination
  • range of motion
  • movement speed
  • movement consistency
  • functional performance

The system can build a picture of how these characteristics change over time.

3. Track Changes Over Time

Repeated observations create a longitudinal functional profile.

Instead of asking:

“How did they do today?”

Breathflow helps answer:

“How has their movement changed over the past several weeks or months?”

This can help individuals and caregivers notice changes that may otherwise be difficult to see.

4. Support Movement

Breathflow can provide simple guided movement activities that encourage regular participation and create additional opportunities to observe function.

Activities can include:

  • balance
  • mobility and flexibility
  • strength
  • coordination
  • gentle movement
  • functional movements

Movement support is therefore connected to the larger goal of maintaining and understanding physical function over time.

Value for Older Adults

Breathflow can help older adults:

  • understand changes in their physical function
  • stay aware of mobility and movement
  • maintain regular physical activity
  • receive simple movement guidance
  • build confidence in staying active at home

The emphasis is on maintaining function—not simply completing workouts.

Value for Families & Caregivers

Breathflow provides a way to observe functional movement between healthcare visits.

Caregivers can:

  • record movement for an older adult
  • upload pre-recorded videos
  • review changes over time
  • recognize patterns that may deserve additional attention
  • encourage regular movement

This can provide additional context without requiring constant in-person observation.

Why Functional Tracking Matters

Physical function affects everyday activities such as:

getting up · walking · turning · reaching · exercising · participating · living independently

Small changes may accumulate gradually before becoming obvious.

Breathflow is designed to make these changes more visible and easier to understand earlier, while complementing—not replacing—professional assessment.

What Makes Breathflow Different

Traditional fitness apps primarily measure:

Did you complete the workout?

Breathflow focuses on:

What is happening to functional movement over time?

Traditional monitoring may depend on:

  • clinic-based assessments
  • occasional observations
  • wearables
  • specialized equipment

Breathflow uses:

Live webcam or pre-recorded video + movement analysis + longitudinal tracking

No wearables. No special equipment.

Beyond Exercise

Movement is one way to maintain and observe physical function.

Breathflow connects:

Movement → Functional Tracking → Awareness → Ongoing Support

For older adults and their caregivers, this can provide a clearer picture of physical function in everyday life.

For people with cognitive or physical limitations, pre-recorded video can make participation easier because a caregiver or family member can handle the recording and upload process.

What Breathflow Is

Breathflow is:

  • a home-based functional movement tracking platform
  • a longitudinal view of physical function
  • a video-based movement assessment tool
  • a movement support system
  • a tool for individuals, families, and caregivers

Breathflow is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat disease. It is designed to complement—not replace—professional healthcare.

The Vision

Make functional health visible, understandable, and easier to maintain at home.

Breathflow aims to give people and those who care for them a clearer picture of how physical function changes over time—while providing simple ways to support continued movement.

Stay active. Maintain function. Age with confidence.

Summary

Breathflow is a video-based functional-health platform that tracks changes in physical movement over time using live webcam or pre-recorded video. It helps older adults, families, and caregivers understand whether mobility and functional movement are stable, improving, or changing, while providing simple movement activities to support ongoing function at home.
