Relations let you connect different post types together;like “Products” to “Categories”, so related content stays linked without manual work. This guide shows you how to set it up step by step.
Build Relations #
Access your WordPress dashboard and go to Dynamic Engine.
Find Relations from More.

To craete a relation, click + add relation.

Quick setup field of relations.

Set a display name of the relation. For example, Author to Books.

Customize the Relation #
Connection:
- Source kind: Choose whether the source object is a Post, Term, or User.
- Source post type: Select which post type/CPT owns this relation from the source side, like, posts, pages, media, etc.
- Target kind: Choose whether the target object is a Post, Term, or User.

- Target post type: Select which post type/CPT sits on the other side of the relation.
- Cardinality: Define how many items can attach, like One to One, One to Many, or Many to Many.
- Bidirectional: Toggle to show the meta box on both source and target edit screens.

Labels:
- Source-side label: Text shown as the meta-box title on the source item’s edit screen.
- Target-side label: Text shown as the meta-box title on the target item’s edit screen.

Limits:
- Max from source: Maximum items each source post can attach (0 = unlimited)
- Max from target: Maximum items each target post can be attached to (0 = unlimited)

Hierarchy:
- Inherit from parent: Lets the picker also show pairs attached to the item’s ancestors, rendered as locked chips.
- Cascade to descendants: Auto-attaches the same pair to every descendant when set on a parent.

Pair Custom Fields:
- Add custom field: Attach extra data (notes, date, status, etc.) specific to each connection pair, shown as an input under every attached item in the meta box

Finally, click Create Relation.
