Here’s a new addition to my growing collection of creative coding experiments. This Processing sketch explores real-time framebuffer datamoshing using live video or prerecorded footage. Instead of manipulating compressed video files, it continually reuses and corrupts previous frames, producing evolving glitch textures, motion smears, feedback echoes, and digital artifacts that respond to movement. The sketch includes multiple built-in presets ranging from subtle corruption to complete visual collapse, along with controls for motion vectors, sticky feedback, block size, corruption amount, color drift, and I-frame style pulse resets. In this video I’m demonstrating some of the different glitch behaviors and visual effects the system can produce. A single letter becomes an entire visual system. This Processing sketch transforms any character you type into a kaleidoscopic field of rotating typography. Move the mouse to reshape the grid, adjust spacing, change scale, and explore different compositions in real time. Cycle through multiple fonts with the arrow keys and use the mouse wheel to fine-tune transparency, revealing delicate layers of overlapping forms. Although the sketch began as a MIDI experiment, this version has been redesigned around simple keyboard and mouse controls, making it easy to explore without any additional hardware. Honored to participate in MAGBa3 @magbaexpo . 3ª Mostra d'Art Generatiu de Barcelona 2026
Under the title “Origens”, this year’s exhibition brings together 19 emerging and established artists who share one passion: art created with code, algorithms, and autonomous systems.
“Origens” brings into dialogue the legacy of the pioneers of computer art of the 1970s with original and contemporary creations by nineteen invited artists, in a strictly black and white format, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the publication of the magazine “Computer Graphics and Art” (1976–1978).
I present beNoise (bi-noise). It’s a generative art diptych that explores duality screen/paper through chromatic inversion.
Based on the piece Gyrating forms (CAG magazine, 1977), the work unfolds as a series of plotted captures where white on black alternates with its absolute opposite, establishing a dialogue of contrasts.
The composition is articulated through a web of random lines that expand and contract, capturing a calculated dynamism. These traces orbit constantly, revolving around a circular form that acts as a core of visual gravity. The plotter’s stroke translates code into static matter, transforming mathematical abstraction into a flow of cyclic movement. This snapshot, where programmed chance and geometry converge, is a reinterpretation of the design aesthetics of the 1970s.

This week’s experiment turns gestures into looping ink trails and generative drones. Click and drag to record a stroke. When you release the mouse, the gesture is transformed into a continuously evolving sumi-inspired brush loop that drifts across textured paper while generating its own ambient soundscape. Each stroke becomes a small autonomous system: • Brush marks continuously redraw themselves • Ink pools emerge in slow curves and turns • Paper retains traces of previous gestures • Spatial position influences pitch and filtering • Stroke speed affects movement, modulation, and sound The result sits somewhere between drawing, notation, meditation, and instrument design. This version was rebuilt in Processing and uses the Processing Sound library for audio synthesis. Controls • Click + Drag = Record a stroke • Release = Create a looping ink form + drone • SHIFT = Wetter brush behavior • C = Clear all loops Try layering multiple gestures and listening to how the visual composition and drone field evolve together. # Random Walk Glyph Field | Processing Generative Art This week’s free Processing sketch explores what happens when a simple random walk becomes the driving force behind an evolving field of symbols. The composition is built from a grid of circular cells containing mathematical and typographic glyphs (+, -, ×, *, =, ÷, %). Each cell exists inside several overlapping systems: • A noise field controls structure and rotation • A second noise field generates color relationships • A wandering random walker creates localized waves of scale and emphasis • Glyphs slowly mutate based on the conditions around them Rather than interacting directly with the piece, an invisible agent drifts through the composition, subtly reshaping the field as it moves. The result feels somewhere between a diagram, a score, and an abstract language that is constantly rewriting itself. I was interested in seeing how much visual complexity could emerge from a relatively small set of rules. The individual elements are extremely simple, but together they create a living system that never quite repeats itself. Signal Synth is a real-time visual instrument built with Processing. Using a small set of geometric forms as its raw material, the sketch transforms simple shapes into evolving signals through rotation, feedback, oscillation, scaling, and automated parameter mutation. The result ranges from clean geometric studies to chaotic electronic-looking artifacts that feel somewhere between a vector oscilloscope, analog video feedback, and a modular synthesizer. Features include: • 9 geometric shape generators • Feedback-based drawing trails • Adjustable rotation, scale, stroke, and persistence controls • Independent sine-wave modulation of X position, Y position, and scale • Live glitch mode for introducing instability and jitter • Automated randomization engine for continuously evolving compositions • Black-on-white and white-on-black display modes • Full HUD for live performance and experimentation This sketch is part of my ongoing effort to release creative coding tools, experiments, instruments, and generative art systems built with Processing. This version can:
• switch between camera / video / image folders
• dynamically load folders during runtime
• lazy-load images instead of preloading everything into RAM
• apply mosaic fragmentation + mesh distortion
• auto-randomize layouts
• crop media properly instead of stretching it
