Our Story

Named for the tree that never gave up

On 6 August 1945, six ginkgo trees near the Hiroshima hypocentre were severely damaged. Within a year, they were growing new leaves. They are still alive today: hibakujumoku, or “survivor trees.”

Innovation ecosystems also experience periods of growth, uncertainty and recovery. Funding cycles change, priorities shift, and promising ideas do not always have the support they need to develop.

Gingo Foundation brings together entrepreneurs, governments, corporations, investors, scientists and researchers to support innovation beyond individual funding cycles. We create conditions in which new technologies can be tested and adopted, with a focus on challenges that matter to people and society. Our work is supported by grants and unconditional contributions from those who share that belief.

Flagship

Cultivator

We don’t accelerate startups. We cultivate founders.

Cultivator is a market-first program connecting experienced founders with governments, industries and institutions. It helps startups validate their solutions, develop pilot projects and establish partnerships that support market adoption and long-term growth.

INVESTORS

The GP Program

The GP program offers aspiring General Partners practical experience in venture capital. Participants work alongside founders, operators and industry experts through the Cultivator programme, gaining a deeper understanding of company development, market validation and technology adoption. The programme also provides opportunities to build professional relationships across the venture ecosystem.

MARKET INTELLIGENCE
