Modlytics is a Devvit moderation app that helps Reddit mod teams detect operational overload before it turns into burnout.
Most moderation tools focus on rule enforcement. Modlytics focuses on the health of the team behind the community: queue pressure, workload imbalance, response latency, and the next action that can reduce strain.
Modlytics turns live subreddit moderation signals into an operations console for moderators.
- Burnout Risk Score based on queue volume, workload imbalance, and latency pressure
- Team Load Matrix showing recent moderation activity distribution
- Queue backlog and average queue age tracking
- Six-hour forecast for projected queue and risk growth
- Balance Score for single-moderator workload concentration
- Suggested owner for the next moderation block
- Intervention Plan with expected impact and confidence
- Moderator configuration for SLA, backlog baseline, workload cap, forecast horizon, focus area, and advisor mode
- Local advisor fallback that works without external AI
- Optional OpenAI advisor using aggregate-only moderation metrics
- Live mode for real subreddit signals
- Sample scenario mode for quiet test communities
Moderation teams can look healthy from the outside while one or two moderators quietly carry most of the work. That imbalance is hard to see until response times slow, queues grow, or people burn out.
Modlytics makes that hidden operational risk visible and assignable:
Reddit mod signals -> risk score -> forecast -> recommended intervention
The goal is simple:
Healthy mod teams create healthier communities.
Modlytics is a Devvit custom-post app. A React WebView calls Hono server routes, the server reads Reddit moderation signals, stores subreddit configuration and snapshots in Redis, computes workload risk and forecasts, and optionally calls OpenAI with aggregate-only metrics to generate a moderator intervention plan.
More detail:
You must be a moderator of the target subreddit.
cd devvit/modlytics
devvit upload
devvit install YOUR_SUBREDDIT_NAMEExample:
devvit install cinnarito_devAfter installation, open the subreddit menu and choose:
Open Modlytics Dashboard
Open the dashboard and click Configure.
Moderators can adjust:
- SLA target in minutes
- Expected backlog baseline
- Forecast horizon
- Queue goal
- Maximum healthy single-moderator workload share
- Sensitivity level
- Operational focus area
- Advisor mode
- Community context for recommendations
Modlytics works without OpenAI. By default, it uses a deterministic local advisor with aggregate moderation metrics.
To enable the OpenAI advisor:
cd devvit/modlytics
devvit upload
devvit settings set openai_api_keyPaste your real OpenAI API key when prompted.
Then open the app:
- Click
Configure - Set
Advisor modetoOpenAI advisor - Save
- Click
Ask AI
If OpenAI mode is enabled, Modlytics sends only aggregate operational metrics:
- Risk score
- Backlog count
- Queue age
- Team size
- Balance score
- Workload concentration
- Moderator-written community context
Modlytics does not send:
- Post text
- Comment text
- Reddit IDs
- Message content
- Raw usernames

The working Devvit project is here:
devvit/modlyticsRun in playtest:
cd devvit/modlytics
npm run devOr playtest in a specific subreddit:
cd devvit/modlytics
devvit playtest cinnarito_devReplace cinnarito_dev with a subreddit you moderate.
cd devvit/modlytics
npm run type-check
npm run lint
npm run buildNote: the current Devvit/Vite plugin may print a non-blocking warning about sourcemapFileNames. The important line is Build complete.
