Symlinks

Hey Teracopy legends! Just wondering if it might be possible to add an option/preference to ignore symlinks? If I inadvertently backup a folder with symlinks in it the copy process spirals out while it copies all the actual symlinked files across. Because Teracopy doesn't necessarily know the size of the files that are symlinked it can fill the entire target disk :0 You'd score extra bonus points if it could copy/recreate the symlinks in the target directory somehow. Many thanks!

SmallFileBuffer and BigFileBuffer

Following up on previous comments in the multiprocessing feature request thread. One of the most common workloads I have, is copy/move files from local disks to network disks - and back. The payload is usually a mix of millions of small files (10-512KB) and thousands of medium to large files (10MB to 100+GB). Using separate, configurable, buffers for small files could speed up the process greatly.

Portable version

Please can the portable version be updated and a link put beside the normal installer? So it gets updated in tandem. Thanks.

Make UI Clearer

When displaying the remaining amount of time that a process is going to take, I believe it would be easier for users to see the remaining time as the number of hours and minutes rather than as essentially a faction. For example, 1.5 hours would become 1 hour 30 minutes. This relates to the information displayed next to the “Target” directory area as highlighted in the attached screenshot below:

Moved files are only deleted after the entire job is complete.

Moved files are only deleted after the entire job is complete. This has only been the case since TC 4.0; in TC 3.x, they were moved individually and deleted immediately after each file. Only the folders were deleted after the entire job was completed. This isn't a very good solution for many individual files, especially when it involves many large individual files with many gigabytes in size. This can fill up two entire hard drives during the job.

Direct Folders

Auto folder generation from existing folder structure

Hello! I have 2 main gripes with direct folders, even though i use it daily. I’ll split these into 2 suggestions as they are quite unique So first one, I work with a lot of folders and files, I’m a CGI artist. I use a program called Post Haste to setup a folder structure for each project. Having to then set this up with Direct Folder is a massive chore. I also use 3 different machines and have to do it 3x (this is my second request). Anyways, it would be AWESOME, if I could point direct folders to a folder, and it automagically general the folder structure with sub-folders and folders for you. Additionally, if a new folder is added under the parent folder that you have pointed it to, it automatically adds that into the config. Thanks for your hard work on this!

Bug Report: "Register Copy Handler" causes shell visual corruption and TeraCopy application crash

Description: Enabling the "Register Copy Handler" option in TeraCopy Preferences causes severe graphical visual artifacts/corruption in the Windows 11 Explorer context menu (overlapping and pixelated text/lines). Additionally, right-clicking files while TeraCopy is running causes the TeraCopy application itself to immediately crash. Technical Details: Root Cause: The shell extension registered by TeraCopy under the System / Drag&Drop Handler category interferes with explorer.exe rendering and triggers an unhandled exception or crash within the active TeraCopy process when the context menu is invoked. Troubleshooting performed: System file integrity verified via DISM and sfc /scannow. Isolated via ShellExView: Standard Context Menu handlers were cleared. Disabling TeraCopy's specific handler under the System / Drag&Drop category immediately stopped the context menu visual bug and prevented TeraCopy from crashing. Unchecking "Register Copy Handler" in TeraCopy Preferences permanently resolves both the rendering corruption and the TeraCopy app crashes. Workaround: Unchecking "Register Copy Handler" while keeping "Add to Explorer context menu" active restores full system stability. Environment: Windows 11 Workstation / TeraCopy Pro (latest build).

Support autoverify using Blake2B (.B2SUM) files

Hi, I just realized that I can use TeraCopy to verify files using .Shaxxx files (tried with 256 / 512 and it worked by opening the hash file directly in TC). However, opening a .B2SUM file doesn’t check automatically - however, if I press the test button, it verifies the file, so it seems that TC does have the ability to actually check B2SUM hash files. Can you enable the auto check for Blake, as well? Windows 11 24H2 latest TC Pro 4.0 RC

Request to improve language files

1. The language file of TeraCopy has not been updated so far, so there are many parts that cannot be translated because there are no strings. I ask for an update so that I can translate all the strings into my native language. 2. I would like to know the option to create "copy" and "move" buttons on the button bar of Double Commander.

Queue System

How Jobs Are Handled Parallel Execution (Default) Multiple file transfer jobs can run simultaneously The system allows up to a configured maximum number of parallel jobs Jobs start immediately if there's capacity Queue Chains (Sequential Execution) When you queue a job "after" another job, they form a chain Jobs in a chain run one after another, not simultaneously Useful when you want specific order or to avoid resource conflicts When Jobs Get Queued Automatically Device Conflicts The system can detect when jobs involve the same storage device To prevent performance issues, it may automatically queue jobs on the same device to run sequentially This behavior depends on your settings (all devices vs. slow devices only (e.g. HDD)) Capacity Limits If the maximum number of parallel jobs is already running, new jobs wait in queue When a running job completes, the next waiting job starts automatically User Controls Force Start You can override the queue system and force a job to start immediately Useful when you know the system resources can handle additional jobs Manual Queueing You can explicitly queue a job to run after another specific job Creates a chain where jobs execute in your chosen order Available in TeraCopy 4 RC 2.

TeraCopy 4 *extremely* slow to start transfer

I have been a long time TeraCopy 3 free user. Rarely if ever had issues. I jumped on the 4 Pro deal, have it installed. When I try to copy or move any files, it often takes 5-10 seconds for the file handler to display and start transferring. It is super laggy and is killing my productivity. I tried adding an exclusive in Defender. I am at a loss at what else to do.

Multi-threading

Use multiple threads when reading and writing files. The read thread will load the data block, compute its checksum, and then store it in a memory buffer (illustrated as the dark blue blocks in the screenshot), making it readily available for the write thread to use. This will replace the async copy method in earlier versions of TeraCopy and increase performance on SSD and network devices.

File move feature in version 4

The current version does not support file movement, but this functionality will be incorporated in the final release. The information was previously shared in the blog posts about the alpha and beta versions of version 4. We are reiterating it here to increase visibility.

Being able to select multiples files with mouse click, CTRL and shift

I want to be able to select multiple files in the file list. Right now I can only select one file (or use the predefine Teracopy selection option like All items, Inverse selection, same folder, etc). I want to click on a file and with the use of CONTROL and SHIFT, select other files (like you can do in windows explorer. Thank you.

Automatically verify skipped files

An older version of Teracopy used to verify skipped files automatically. Now the application stops, even if Verify is checkmarked, and the user must hit next and then hit verify to have it proceed. So, a job I ran last night barely made progress because it was waiting for me to take those steps. Here’s the use case: Raid 1 disc upgrades to larger disks. All files are already on the larger array and I’m double checking for errors (important files!). For one folder of 1.8TB and over 96K files, Teracopy found 2 errors. For my need, that’s worth the time/effort. Options for a fix: 1. Unattended feature. 2. Command line. 3. Checkmarked verify button applies to skipped files. 4. All of the above.

Unable to toggle Register Copy Handler off

TeraCopy 64-bit version 3.17 OS: Windows 11 22H2 In TeraCopy version 3.17, the Register Copy Handler and Add to Explorer context menu options cannot be toggled off. Deselecting these options from the menu and pressing "OK" retains the copy handler and context menu presence, even after restarting TeraCopy and Windows Explorer. Returning to the options menu shows that these options have reverted to an enabled state.

Function 'New Folder With Items' Improvement

Hi! I wanted to ask for an improve for the function ‘New Folder With Items’: when you create a new folder due to an installer, for example, it should automatically name that folder with the installer’s name, as the program FileToFlder does (watch the video).
