Me and my picture in GQ is about as out of place as a pork chop at a bar mitzvah.
This line had me laughing out loud today on Howie Rose’s final broadcast before retirement. He’s been a Mets fan since the team’s inception and his career with the team was a dream come true. I’m glad I got to hear him deliver a “Put it in the books!” one last time yesterday, after the Mets retired Carlos Beltrán’s number 15.
Every radio broadcast with Howie was a Mets history lesson. The fans were lucky to have him, one our own, for so many years. I’m glad he’ll still do Opening Day and various ceremonies with the team, but we’re sure going to miss him on the radio.
Thanks for everything, Howie.
