I am a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), in the Institute of Computing within the Faculty of Informatics.
My research aims to develop statistical and machine-learning methods for reliable learning under changing conditions, drawing on causal inference and extreme value theory to improve robustness and understand the limits of extrapolation.
Previously, I was an Assistant Professor in Statistics at Imperial College London in the Statistics Section of the Department of Mathematics, and a faculty member at I-X, Imperial’s cross-departmental initiative in AI.
Before joining Imperial, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Copenhagen Causality Lab, University of Copenhagen, working with Jonas Peters and Niklas Pfister, and a visiting postdoctoral researcher at UCL and UC Berkeley. My postdoctoral research was supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation through grant 210976. I obtained my PhD in Statistics at the University of Geneva, supervised by Sebastian Engelke, and completed my master’s thesis in Statistics at ETH Zurich, supervised by Nicolai Meinshausen.
