Go Cougars!!!

Going to a BYU game has become a tradition for us. The boys absolutely LOVE it, and it brings back good college memories for me. We went to the Colorado game and it did not disappoint. The boys don't care if it's a good game, they just like all the excitement that comes with scoring lots of touchdowns!! The cougars scored lots of points so they got to see the army guys do LOTS of push ups and the cougarettes do lots of kicks. The weather was perfect. Our seats were up high, but near the band so that was fun. Everybody had a good time...unless it was your turn to hold Nolan. He was kinda a wiggle worm!!

Eastern Idaho State Fair

The Eastern Idaho State fair is a BIG deal. Everything is put on hold for fair week, even school. Seroiusly, the kids were out for 2 days!! Not being from here, I don't really see the big deal. I mean it's a fair...dirty, expensive, and greasy food. But I still remember my dad picking us up from school and taking us to the Four States Fair when I was little, so we decided to give our boys that memory too. They were SO excited. Seeing their smiles and hearing their giggles made the $100 we spent worth it...almost.

Image What should we do first??
Image

Nolan was too little to ride, but had fun waving at the boys and clapping for them.

ImageAustin wanted to ride the ferris wheel so bad, but you had to ride with an adult. Jeremy didn't want to pay $4 to ride it, but it was important to Austin so he did. At the end of the day he told Jeremy his favorite ride was the ferris wheel...$4 worth it!!

ImageI wish you could hear the boys' giggles while riding this dragon. Everytime they rode it,6 times, they giggled and smiled the entire time. That was my favorite part of the fair.

Image Nolan finally got to get out of the stroller in the petting zoo and he went a little crazy. He ran around petting (hitting) all the goats and would push them and say GO if they were standing still!

Kitchen Reveal...finally

For those of you who remember, know that I painted our kitchen (July post). It really only took 2 days for all the prep work and to paint, but it has taken me FOREVER to take "after" pictures. (1) because it's never clean enough to take a picture and (2) because I wanted to get all the little things done before I showed it to you. But I now realize that it won't be perfect for a while. I would like a black table, but will probably end up painting my old one. I would also like to put up some curtains but have no idea what color or kind...opinions welcome! So here is a before picture to refresh your memory of the tomato soup.

Image

And after...pea soup as my friend called it. The color looks better in person, and I LOVE it. It makes it so much cheerier (is that a word)? Behr paint plus primer is amazing. Covered that orange red in one coat.

Image Look really close above the fridge...I forgot to paint that. And I never see it, so I never remember I need to paint it.
ImageOne day the frames under the chalkboard menu will hold hand written recipes from my grandmas...a great idea from my creative friend Mandy. So there is my GREEN kitchen.

Fireplace = Stitches

Before we bought our house, when I saw the fireplace I told Jeremy it looked like stitches.

Image(it's pretty, but not friendly)

I have 4 brothers and we had a fireplace growing up...lots of stitches! We've only lived in our house 3 months and the fireplace has already attacked one of the boys. Nolan was playing with the toys in the corner...bad idea and they are getting moved...when he tripped on the corner of the fireplace. The rocks split his nostril in half. However, he didn't get a scratch, cut, or bruise on his face at all, weird. I wasn't home, so Jeremy took him to the ER. Yes, the ER in the middle of the day. I called Jeremy when I got home and he said he was at the ER!! I went straight there and we were there ALL day. First they numbed it to clean it. Then they had to stitch his nose back together, and they had to put him under to do that. After they stitched it we had to wait until Nolan could walk before we could leave. We were there about 4 hours!! Even though it was the most expensive option, it turned out to be the best. The Dr. did an amazing job on his stitches and his little nose looks good. He had to line his nostril back up which was the hardest part.

Image Nolan showing mom his cut and his cute lips.
ImageShowing off his hand. He had to have an IV, I forgot to mention that. That's how they gave him his medicine to put him under. Remember I wasn't home...do you like his outfit??
ImagePointing to his cut right before we went to get his stitches out. When we were walking up to the building, he pointed to his nose and said, "This." He remembered! They didn't put him under to take the stitches out, and he fought them the entire time. After each stitch ALL the nurses and Dr. had to take a break. They tried to wrap him up and velcro him to a board, but he got out of that before they even took the 1st stitch out!! They couldn't believe how strong he is.
ImagePoor little guy. After they got all 8 stitches out he waved to them and wanted to get out of there. He was dripping with sweat and had red little cheeks. But they gave him a RED sucker which made it all better!!
ImageOf course I had to take off his shirt so he wouldn't get it all messy!!

First Day of School

School has started and the boys are excited...mom too! Jackson started 2nd grade at a new school. I was nervous for him, but he LOVES it and has made several new friends already. The first day of school he wanted to ride the bus so bad, and I told him he could. I went to get dressed to walk him to the stop and when I came out of my room he was gone...with no lunch money and no picture!! I had to drive to the school to give him his lunch money and grabbed a few pictures.

Image Image

Austin didn't start school until a few days after Jacks, and he could not wait. I even found his backpack in his bed a few nights.

ImageWhen the day finally came for him to start, he was on the front porch at 7:50am with his backpack on ready to go with Jacks. Remember he has afternoon...so I made him come in. He looked at the clock every 3 minutes until it was time at 10:50am to walk down the the bus stop. I'm going to have to find things for him to do in the morning, so it doesn't drag on and on and on.

Image

Austin waiting for the bus. The bus comes at 11am and school doesn't start until 11:55am. He's on the bus for a LONG time, but he LOVES it and it's one less hour I have to hear him ask how many more minutes!

Image

Austin getting on the bus finally. I didn't think it would bother me for him to go to school, but after he got on the bus my heart hurt just a little.

ImageAlthough I only have one little guy at home now, he makes enough messes to keep me busy. I still have no free time!!
