Who Patted My Bum?
Last night we went to Chili's and had dinner. While we were waiting to be seated we sat outside on a bench. As people were leaving, Miriam would call out, "Go!" and wave them away. We told her to quiet down, maybe they will think you want them to leave, but she's not so subtle. She does it in the mornings while we wait for the bus on the driveway. As the cars drive by she shouts out "Go!" and waves her arm at them like she's waving them on in a race.
As we were leaving the restaurant, we saw some friends waiting to be seated and said hi to them and shook their hands. Miriam shook their hands too, and then reached up to say bye to a man standing next to us, and patted him on the bum. He jumped and turned around, but Miriam had moved on down the line, so I was just standing there with Chuck, and I said, "She did it, not me," and pointed to Miriam, and they laughed. Miriam was saying goodbye to all the people sitting waiting on the bench, and then as we left she said goodbye to the people sitting outside too. Very friendly. Hopefully that makes up for telling those other people to leave.

He - o
Miriam greeted me this morning by saying "He - o." I wondered if I was hearing that right. So I said, "Hello." She said "He - o." Hello. He - o. He - o. We love the new words!!!
Some other words we hear now are: home, M (Em for Miriam, and point to chest), Ee for eat (sign eat at same time), and te for teeth and tree, and te te for TV (make sign which is t and v), Come on and No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
"Do you want to go to the store with Dad?" No. Begins packing backpack with toys. "Are you sure you don't want to go to the store with Dad?" No. Gathers up backpack and blanket, puts on shoes and goes to door. "Okay, it's too bad you don't want to go to the store with Dad." No. Walks outside to the car and climbs in.

Beloved Blanket
This morning Miriam got mad at me for some tiny insignificant thing which I can't remember, and threw some stuff at me, including her stinky blanket. I had been contemplating washing it, since I no longer wanted it anywhere near me, which is a problem since it goes almost everywhere with Miriam, but had not settled on a good plan. How to separate it from its sidekick? She even gives it a place at the table. It's me, Chuck, Miriam, and blanket at the table, quite often. We draw the line at putting it on the table, so Miriam gives blanket a chair, and gives it periodic kisses. So when she threw it at me, I grabbed it and walked into the laundry room and threw it in the washer, added a bunch of other white clothes, and started it.
After a little while, Miriam comes to me signing "blanket." At first I denied any knowledge of blanket's whereabouts, then I remembered she threw it at me, so I told her she threw it at me and now it is getting washed. She was alarmed and became upset and went to see what was going on in the laundry room. I told her she had to wait until it was done and then a few minutes in the dryer, and then she could have it. She waited impatiently, checking the status of the washer often, until it stopped making noise. She came to me excitedly and signed, "All done." But I went and looked and it said 10 minutes left. So we waited. Then she came again. "All done." I checked and it was one minute left. So she went away and when it was done I quickly threw it with the other clothes into the dryer. So a few more minutes went by, and she came to remind me again, and we went and opened the dryer. Miriam's blanket was dry and warm and I gave it to her and told her she should thank me for washing it, and she blew me a kiss and signed thank you. That's more like it.

Miriam is such a good helper!
Last night Miriam put her plate in the sink after dinner, and then cleared our places too. Then I wiped the table before we read the Book of Mormon, and she noticed it was wet, so she went and got a towel and dried off the table. After noticing the positive reception she was getting, she dried off the underside of the table, and the floor too. We were reading out loud and she was wiping, and Chuck started laughing because she was just wiping and wiping.
We had Family Home Evening later and did the first lesson in her new primary manual, which is Choose the Right, and talked about how Miriam chose the right by helping clear the table and drying it off. Then this morning I thanked her after she took her breakfast plate to the sink, and told her she was choosing the right, and she looked at me and raised her eyebrows and nodded very seriously.
