Father's Day
On Father's Day Miriam put on the outfit Chuck's mom made her and her warm cap. We tried all winter to get her to put this hat on so we could take a picture, but no! Now that it is nice and warm, here are some photos. Oh, and the Easter bag is acting as purse. Inside the purse is a can of mandarin oranges, a can of peaches, and some stickers.
How Does Horton End?
Today Miriam and I went to the free family movies at the mall. We decided to see Horton Hears a Who. We got there early, as did everyone else, and after climbing all over the stadium seating we finally located two seats together which were not being saved by the school group.
We were there a half an hour early, and Miriam went through all the treats in my purse. She didn't eat them all, she just pulled them out, tried them, rejected them, and pulled something else out. We lasted almost the whole movie, thanks to the grand finale of treats, Mike 'n Ikes, whose sticky ziplock bag stayed the longest in her hands. But just before the end, Miriam got silly and wiggly and threw my purse several times to the floor and we left before it hit someone in the head.
Which reminds me, one time Miriam took her purse to church and threw it down the row at the family in front of us. Another time she threw a book at the people behind us, so it was not a stretch of the imagination to think this could happen again.
After leaving the movie we went into the mall, and Miriam immediately signed horse, and we went down and rode the carousel, just like last week, only this time it wasn't so scary! We had no quarters, though, so we went into Children's Place on the way. Miriam was in a big rush to get to the carousel, but I had no change so we had a big showdown in front of Children's Place. Mainly I stood there with my arms folded, and she stood in front of the next store with her arms folded and her back to me. Eventually she came back closer, and I stealthily backed into the store and she followed me. I am irresistible. While in the store, Miriam entertained all the shoppers by dashing back and forth laughing madly until I could grab her. We bought some fancy hair bands which double as bracelets, one of which is modeled below. The nice lady was so glad we were leaving she gave Miriam a sticker on her way out!
And I still don't know how Horton ends.

Purses, Presents, Cookies and Escalators
Big shopping day at the mall yesterday. We went to get a Father's Day present for Dad, then walked through the whole mall.
1. Buy candies from the gumball machine.
2. Walk past stores, but do not go in the ones Mom wants to go into, only the one with clothes too big for Miriam and too small for Mom.
3. Go to the children's play area. Do not take off shoes, and never put purse down as you climb on the toys.
4. Ride the horse in the carousel. Frightening and fun.
5. Go up and down the escalator only if Mom makes you.
6. Lay on the floor in front of the store Mom tries to shop through with her eyes.
7. Try to talk Mom into renting the car stroller for the day for $5.
8. Insist on Cinnabun's and ice cream, but settle for Mrs. Fields' cookies after intense negotiation.
9. Sit on a bench and survey the scene.
10. Take cookies outside by the fountain.
11. Call Dad. So sad. Must work.
12. Go back inside, buy torpedo sandwiches (just the name makes them cool) and take them with the one remaining cookie to Dad at work.
