Skylin's 3yr old Post

Skylin turned 3 a week before Christmas. On her birthday I asked her a handful of questions...

1. What is your favorite color? Pink
2. What is your favorite toy? My dolls
3. What is your favorite fruit? Watermellon
4. What is your favorite TV show? Dora
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Mac-and-Cheese and peas
6. What is your favorite outift? My princess dresses
7. What is your favorite game? Hide-n-seek
8. What is your favorite snack? Fruit snacks
9. What is your favorite animal? A zebra
10. What is your favorite song? I am A Child of God
11. What is your favorite book? A princess book
12. Who is your best friend? Lilly, Ethan, and Noah
13. What is your favorite vegetable? Carrots
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Go to the park
15. What is your favorite drink? Apple Juice
16. What is your favorite holiday? Easter
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? My dolls
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Oatmeal
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? Pasta
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? A mommy

Catch any theme here? haha. Sky is all girl and I love it! She has so much love to give... sometimes it can be overwhelming! She is always giving my hugs and kisses and telling my how much she loves me. Oh, how I love her too! I just have to add that Sky's other favorite color is black, because chocolate is black. She says chocolate is her favorite food. Yup, my daughter. :) Though she has a sweet tooth and loves all the normal kid foods, she will eat anything. I never worry about her going hungry. She still takes about an hour nap a day and I'm so grateful for it! When she was a couple months old I would have never guessed what an amazing sleeper she would turn into. She knows when she's tired and asks for bed. She is such a big helper to me and the perfect big sister to Truly. She is excited for her baby brother to come, so she can "learn him how to walk." She says the funniest things these days. She is really shy at first, but at home she is so loud and never stops talking. She also is an extremely loud singer. It's either silence or yelling with her. People have scared me that 3yr olds are so hard. In my experience, 1yr olds are hard! Yes, backtalking and negotiating are in full swing, but I love the conversations we have, how much she is learning and comprehending, and the imagination that is exploding out of her little brain! Skylin is so fun! I'm so grateful to be her mom and that she's a part of our family.

Les Mis

I just have to say it people.

I will not be seeing the Les Mis movie again.

We saw it last night and I waited for so long and was so excited! I LOVE this story and musical! The first time I saw it was when I was 18, the summer after high school graduation in NYC, and it changed my life. It is definitely, by far, the longest book I have ever read. There is so much greatness from that story and the music from the musical is amazing. I have seen the musical 3 times since that summer.

I'm so sad I don't want to run to the store and buy the movie when it comes out, but I was pretty disgusted by how graphic it was. Call me lame, or whatever the term is, but either people keep quiet about how they really feel, or everyone is desensitized from all the immorality seen on the screen these days. I don't care if Fantine is a prostitute and lived a terrible life... There are better ways to get the message across. We live in a hard society. We don't have television in our home and rarely go to the movies anymore. This is why... To me, it's just not worth the sick feeling I get.

Anyway, just had to throw that out there while everyone is saying how much they loved the movie and totally ignoring the few reasons why it shouldn't be viewed.

Sky's 3rd Birthday Party

Image

Sky's 3rd Birthday Party was a lot of fun! We did it a little early, because of all the other parties we had planned to attend this month. It was a Dora/Jungle themed party. Sky prayed for her party for a long time... she was SO excited! She had a blast! We did a little game where Swiper stole the cupcakes. I gave all the kids "backpacks" and a map to follow to find it. They also colored, played outside, and loaded up on sugar. I'm so glad so many friends were able to come! Sky felt so special and she has been loving all of her toys. :)

Sky's Dance Class

Sky started her first dance class a couple months ago. It was a ballet/tap class called Tiny Tots through the Queen Creek Library. She had so much fun! She looked forward to it every week and wasn't shy at all about going. She didn't want me in the room either... too independent this one! (Doesn't she know she's my first child?!) She enjoyed tap more than ballet. Anyway, we have her signed up for next semester too. I loved her teacher. They had a recital this month and her class did a tap dance. They also got to perform it at the Queen Creek Holiday Festival. It was great and I can't believe I have a kid old enough for stuff like this... makes me feel old. (Wish I could upload a video, but I'm way too impatient.)

Truly is 18months

My little Miss Truly is 18months old. Everyone thinks she is older, because she's pretty tall and advanced for her age. I blame her big sister... Truly HAS to do everything that Sky does. She is the sweetest girl on the planet... Her nursery leaders say she's an angel. I believe it... She's been an angel her whole life. However, only Sky and I really know the trouble she can cause. She's a huge tease and finds any way to get Sky to chase her. (Me too apparently, because she disappeared in Walgreens the other day when I was trying to pick up a prescription. It's a long story, but I'm super grateful for the nice pharmacist man that helped me find her, who probably saw on my face what a frazzled day I was having and just felt bad for me.)

Truly likes to break rules, but she doesn't like getting in trouble. She just says "mama, mama" with this sad look in her eye and touching my face. She still gets 1min time outs though.

She's saying lots of new words: thank you, cheese, grandpa, shoes, and tons more.

Tru's favorite food is cheese and bananas, but she loves to eat.

Truly is really into any kind of animal, shoes, babies, books, and purses. She's pretty much just sky's playmate and tags along with her. She catches on to games a lot faster than I thought she would.

Tru sleeps 12hrs at night and takes a 1.5-2 hr nap.

As you can see, she really likes to have her picture taken. And she can't wait to join a dance class... The girl has moves and it kills her that she can't go with Sky.

We all love our Truly!

Free stuff and advice needed

I always laugh in my head when people come to our house and actually comment on our nice things, because literally everything we own is used... Bought used or given to us.

The first project Austin and I ever did together was a table given to us when we were engaged... Kinda sad to say goodbye, but we're moving on...
Image

Just recently we scored a brand new/used FREE kitchen table! (People, it never hurts to ask!) I happen to love it! It even has 2 leafs, so it could potentially fit like 10chairs. I'm just having the hardest time trying to decide what to do with it! I'm thinking white with a stained black top? I really don't know, but I want it to last a long time, so it being cute is a must. I already know I want to build a bench for one side and we'll buy 4 other chairs. What do you think though? What should I do?

Sisters

As many of you know, I don't have any sisters. Watching Skylin and Truly fight and bond is such a special treat! I'm so glad they have each other and I hope their battling years won't ruin the lifetime relationship and connection they can have. They are so cute together and best friends! It makes my mom heart happy. :)
Image
Last month Truly moved into Sky's room. They really like it. Truly likes it too much! I have to put her to bed at least 15min before Sky or else she'll just want to play and keep Sky up. She really loves to tease her sister! Sky actually sleeps even better with Tru in the room. She's super quiet and tiptoes when she wakes up. It's so cute. Sky only takes about an hour nap these days, so she just lays down for the end of Tru's nap. It seems to be working out. Here's how their room turned out. It was hard trying to figure out how to fit 2 twin size beds in the room. It just isn't built to have it that way!

I still need to find the perfect picture of the girls for the frame.

30 weeks

I'm officially 30 weeks now. Kinda freaking out! I didn't feel this way with the girls. I think it is a mixture of hormones, the busyness of December, and having 3 kids in 3 years. I just really want to be all prepared this month, so I can try to relax before he's born. I seriously feel like I just peed on a stick... This pregnancy has been the fastest time of my life! Although my brain is telling me that early February is still too soon to have a baby, my body is telling me differently.

I'm starting to "feel" more pregnant now. Obviously my growing stomach, but I get worn out easier. I'm the go and do type. It frustrates me when my body can't keep up with my brain. Relaxing and taking things slow is also important to me, but I enjoy working my butt off and then playing. I can't really work out when I'm pregnant. I do stretching and what not, but anything that gets my heart rate up a lot also starts making me contract and feel like I'm going to have a baby. I get a lot of pressure on my cervix if I'm on the go all day long. I'm grateful for my body though and what it can do.

My heart is also ready for this baby! I love him and am so excited to meet him come February. I know having him will bring so much peace to my life... God really does know me and the right timing for my life.

Also, weird side note: so this boy moves A LOT. Like constantly. It even makes me feel kinda motion sickness-y when I wake up at night. I guess it's because my placenta is as far back as it could be, which is good, but my midwife says I can probably feel every single movement. It's insane. Anyone else experienced that before?

Now for my baby bump pic and the outfit I caved buying for my little man! I couldn't help but get this little suit for a Christmas present... Makes me so excited!

Day Dates

Sky and I have been planning our first real date together for a little while. Most of her outings and one-on-one time seem to be with Austin, but I really felt like doing something just the 2 of us. Now that Sky's almost 3, Austin and I have decided to take turns doing dates with her. We want to with all of our kids when the time comes. We have been praying about the specific needs of our family and children and I love the new traditions we have been starting. I feel like we are growing together and I feel so blessed!

Anyway, Sky and I had a date at the park where she road her bike around and we laughed and talked. We also went out for some frozen yogurt. I love my little girl. She is so much like me, but much stronger. She is such a blessing to our family.

During this "thankful" month where everyone seems to be sharing what they're thankful for, I am most grateful for my sweet family and the gospel. Without a relationship with my Heavenly Father and Christ, I would be so lost, but I feel their love for me, my husband, and each of my children. It is such a neat experience and I treasure it above anything else. Every moment counts when you're a mom, there's always teachable moments, and sometimes it's overwhelming to know if what you do every day is good enough. I have a testimony that God does let us know! He'll tell us when we're doing great and He'll tell us where we need to improve. I hope to live my life in a way that makes my Father proud. Hold me to it. ;)

Halloween Month

We celebrated fall and Halloween all month long and it was fantastic! We've been having so much fun. Sky is really into holidays now, which makes it even more fun. We've made it a tradition now to go to Vertuccio Farms one FHE night out of the month of October. We let the girls pick their own pumpkins and they picked the tiny $1 ones. Score! We opted out of carving this year and just let the girls paint them. I think it was just as big of a hit.Image

We dressed up as Ninja Turtles 3 different times. I think that's a record. Our ward party was earlier than usual, so we did Halloween and Austin's grandparent's party as well. Good times were had by all and the girls were way too spoiled with candy. They are definite fans of Trick or Treating.

Don't ask me why I can't get my kids to take one good smiling picture. I even tried to bribe them with candy corn. Didn't work... goof balls! We're onto Thanksgiving happiness now! Hope you had a fabulous October!
