Grandma & Grandpa's

Here is some footage of Grandma and Grandpa's house I took. Not to be all doom and gloom, but one day we might not have access to it anymore and this footage will be valuable to us I think.

Fun Moments

The other day, the kids watched a show about a halloween party. After it was over they told me "We are going to Halloween." I was working on something and said, "Oh, ok." A few minutes later they brought me some costumes that they wanted me to help them put on. I about laughed my head off and after helping them get them dressed I had to take a few pictures. Caitlyn would not give me a real smile unfortunately, but still, this is Caitlyn to a tee. And yes, Bryant chose the outfit on his own don't ask me why.

ImageImage
PS, the guitars are really "pumpkins" that he is taking to the party.

Another fun moment: reading with dad when he Finally gets home from school! The kids sure miss having him home so much. -So do I for that matter :) But it is really not too bad- he can be home around 6:30... so far.

Disneyland!

Image
Well, we are working on a fun highlight video of Disneyland! The video is a third finished, and we are really working on it. It was such a fun trip! -Crazy, but fun!

The kids had a great time, and often talk about different parts of it. They sing "Small world" all the time, yet both insist that the train ride was their favorite:) The kids loved seeing the characters- although they were pretty nervous at how big they were at first. We also did not see TONS of characters because we would rather stand in line for rides. Every time we got off a ride the kids would ask if we could go on another one. We had lots of fun with Mark and Kirsten and of course Jaron and Calder:) Sharing one hotel room was... crazy, but fun and cheaper :) Poor Mark and Kirsten got to see our true colors when we are all tired and kids are not sleeping. (I decided then and there that I love my crib tents so much that I think I will make the kids stay in their cribs until they are five). Nevertheless, we had so much fun- and I know I keep saying that, but we did!

But back to real life- the end of the world as we know it ...let's hope we feel fine!
The day we got back we started a TON of new things:
  • Potty Training- after two days we decided that Bryant is NOT ready. I think one at a time will be easier anyway.
  • P90x!!! We have successfully finished one week. We have modified the food plan- it is much more like Body for Life than P90X, but still... go us!!
  • Adam had orientations for school
  • Catherine started canning (salsa, pizza sauce, green beans- and more will follow- peaches, applesauce etc.)
  • Adam Started Classes!!!!

Upstate New York Highlights

I thought some of you would like to see some Perkins Family New York memories as they looked in June 2009. Video contents: Obscure sites at the Hill Cumorah Pageant; my home in Fairport, New York; the path that leads to Dudley/Northside Elementary School.

Well, I thought since Jaron and Calder are still sleeping I would try really quickly one more time to upload a couple pics. Wa-la!!

Yesterday Calder woke up from his nap, I fed him and got out our old baby toys for him to play with. When B & C woke up they got a little over excited to share their old toys with him. I turned around and this is what I found. I laughed my head off! Poor Calder.

Latest adventure: Zoo followed by camping in Christy's backyard. Unfortunately I forgot to take pics camping. Here are a couple at the zoo though.

Caitlyn was super scared of the Tyrannosaurus Rex at the zoo. This is her backing up as far as she could :)

I always laugh when I download my pictures from my camera after months and months of taking pictures. Each time I find lots of things that I took specifically to put on our blog, and yet the last post which was a HUGE post was five months ago and here I am again. I found in college that trying to catch up on reading usually meant that I would get further and further behind, so if I missed a chapter I read the current assignment anyway and tried to catch up later. I am thinking that is a wise blog principle too.

In general this last five months have been good.
Highlights-

Adam got into graduate school at the U for occupational therapy- his number one choice!! School starts on our anniversary- Aug. 18th. (He is thrilled to be in meetings all that day...let me tell you :)

We have had lots of fun trips and vacations: Brekenridge CO with Adam's parents, Mesquite, NV with the whole Perkins clan, camping one and a half times (last week due to poor preparation we ended up in my cousin's backyard- so half camping, but tons of fun still.) Parades, fireworks, boating, fireworks and more fireworks and I feel like in between it all I have a couple days to recover myself and house and kids' nap schedules and then we are off again. We are currently planning a trip to Disneyland!!!! We have to get it all in now seeing as how there are no breaks for the next three years.

Here are a few pictures from the last couple weeks:

Ok Blogger is driving me crazy. It will not allow me to add a new picture so they will have to wait. Why is it that I finally- FINALLY sit down to do this that it takes two hours longer than I think and in the end is still not working. GRR. Oh well. I will try again later.

A quick-ish picture update

I have been trying to decide how to do this update since it has been such a long time since I posted. I guess I will start with a few of the pictures Adam's sister took of us this October.

Here are a few of the kids who are always asking to play the violin. I won't let them touch mine but I have the ones from when I was little so we play fairly often just for fun.

Here are a few fun Halloween Pics. I sewed all of our costumes except mine. I had so much fun- especially on Adam's.

Needless to say, Caitlyn was in her element playing Mary and Jaron and Bryant had fun but took a lot more coaxing to not run away. :)

A few of Bryant and Caitlyn enjoying their new bikes- late birthday presents from Grandma and Papa Perkins

And finally some two year old isms both Pictorially and Verbally:)

These two pictures illustrate the lenghts the kids will go to have a basket to play in. Pull out a bazillion diapers and dump out my just folded laundry. Sigh.

Both kids singing " I got a snack of sugar" (instead of sack of sugar like mommy and daddy say.)
Both kids would say... "no way who-say!"

While talking to mom one morning Caitlyn tries out some new phrases:

Caitlyn: My pockets are hats.

Mom: Your pockets are hats huh?

Caitlyn: That is true. It’s gonna be so easy because it was like… she trails off.

Image
Mommy made us come inside.

Quote:

Caitlyn: I’m A-pah (she has a diaper box on like a shirt.)

Dad: I don’t know who A-pah is- who is A-pah?

Caitlyn: Caitlyn is A-pah

Image
As long as she has a hat and shoes and a baby she is happy.

Quote:

Caitlyn’s first true solo prayer 11/3/10 (I was expecting to help her but she just said it…)

Heavenly father thank you for this day thank you for the pancakes and the TV and the nuther Lorenzo in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Image
I have no idea why, but when it comes to food, Bryant is ALWAYS messier :)

Image
Oh, Thank You Caitlyn.

Quote:

Bryant: I want more macamoni cheese.

Image
Broken Crib (both sides- sigh) from Bryant doing who knows what.

Attempt at new big kid beds.

After a week of naps getting worse and worse Mommy put cardboard in the crib holes and replaced them. This is a typical game. Great. Luckily even though they can get out they generally don't' when it is time to sleep.

Quote:

Caitlyn: I want more eggy-skievers.

Image
(Kissing his toe better)

Quote:

Bryant: Heavenly Father, Thank you for this day, thank you for the pah-fet … (pause)

Daddy: Thank you for

Bryant: the food

Daddy: Please bless it

Bryant: to be good

Image
Beautiful. Picture taken to keep Mommy laughing instead of yelling.

Image
Thanks again Caitlyn.

Quote:

Mom: Do you guys want some cereal?

Bryant: Yay cereal! I love cereal she loves me (sung to the tune of I love mommy.)

Image

(during lunchtime prayer) Mommy …and please bless daddy

Bryant: bless Daddy

Mommy: in the name…

Bryant no- he’s at work.

Yes he’s at work… in the name

Etc

Caitlyn: Jesus is at work too.

Mommy- he is huh- I guess you are right.

Bryant- where is Santa Claus?

Mommy- He is working too.

Bryant- no, he’s at the Pole.

Image
How did you know it was Me?

Quote:

Adam: Bryant did you know that your name is Bryant Adam Perkins? Can you say I am Bryant Adam Perkins?

Bryant: No

Adam: say Bryant

Bryant: Bryant

Adam: Adam

Bryant: Adam

Adam: Perkins

Bryant: Perkins.

Adam: Now say I am Bryant Adam Perkins

Bryant: I am Bryant daddy Perkins.

Image
Typical Caitlyn- always pretending to be mommy of something- either a baby, Giraffe, a puppy, kitty, teddy bear or whatever.

Quote:
(Background- Caitlyn started a fire by pushing the boiling pot of water off the burner and replacing it with a hand towel. It was a very scary experience for mommy and Caitlyn.)
Caitlyn , a few days after the fire: mommy what was that beep? But where did it come from?
Mommy: do you mean the smoke alarm?
Caitlyn: Yeah. But, it was so serious.
Mom: yes, it was scary huh.
Caitlyn: Yeah, it was so serious. But I am done. It was so def-ih-ley (definitely).
Mom: Really?
Caitlyn: Yeah. I am so defily.

There she goes trying out new words again:)

Well, I will sign off now. We are happy and having fun. Hope you are too!
