Meet Zoë
Zoë is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element Acupuncturist with a wealth of experience. Here is her story.
Back in 2009 I left my highly stressful job in advertising, to have a baby. This huge change led to a re-evaluation of my life, so much so that I made the decision to leave London city life completely and retrain in something I considered to be worthwhile. I simply felt a compelling need to help others.
I decided to do a degree in Acupuncture.
The next few years saw a lot of struggles. I had my second child in my second year of study and took the mandatory Chinese Medicine exams when she was 4 weeks old. (My goodness the page was swimming before my eyes after 5 straight hours of exams and zero sleep with a newborn!)
My relationship broke down in the third year, and I moved house to live with my babies alone. The house was also a ‘project’ and I spent the next year refurbishing it. (I look back now and think I must have been mad!)
By 2013 I had graduated, and was living with a 4 year old and a 1 year old. The house was still a small disaster, but I somehow managed to see the bigger picture and push on through.
By the end of 2013 I had launched my acupuncture business, converting the garage into a treatment room, and was successfully integrating this into my busy life of looking after two small ones, and working on “project house”.
I can honestly say the one thing that kept me level headed during this period was ear seeds. I discovered their benefits during my acupuncture training days, and to this day I still wear them. Back in 2013 they allowed me to focus, de-stress and calm the anxiety I had surrounding my chaos.
Because I found them so effective, I started incorporating them into nearly every acupuncture treatment I did, and my goodness the feedback was incredible.
And so AcuPips was born.
Today I am happily married, with two step children (who strangely are the same ages as my two, so it’s a bit like having two sets of twins!) My acupuncture business is thriving, I run 3 clinics in 3 different locations, and provide voluntary acupuncture for cancer patients through the Berkshire based charity My Cancer My Choices.
AcuPips has allowed me to continue my passion for ear seeds, the company has gone from strength to strength, and it’s a truly lovely feeling knowing that my skills as an acupuncturist have translated into helping people to heal all over the world.
