FAQs:
Auricular Therapy is a branch of Chinese Medicine that focuses solely on the ear. It is commonly used in acupuncture treatments but has been recognised as a stand alone treatment since 1957, when it was discovered that the ear is in the shape of an inverted foetus, and as such the ear is now considered to be a microcosm of the body. Essentially this means that it is possible to treat both physical and emotional ailments using just the ear, and the specific pressure points on it.
From a Chinese Medicine viewpoint, these pressure points activate various metaphorical organs within the body, promoting healing and balance.
From a Western Medicine perspective these pressure points are closely connected to the autonomic nervous system and endocrine system, as well as neural reflex, neuroimmunological factors, neuroinflammation and antioxidation.
In essence, the pressure points work to balance the body by connecting to these and sending messages to the brain to heal the body on either an emotional or physical level, or both.

Clean the ear thoroughly with an alcohol swab or cleanser, and pat dry.
Using the protocol provided, you will be applying all of the points in both ears, one at a time.
Take the tweezers and lift the ear seed from the packaging, taking care not to fold it over.
Apply the ear seed to the ear in the designated spot and push firmly to attach.
You do not need to be 100% accurate – as a rule of thumb, if it is painful then it’s not in the right place – a dull ache is what you are looking for!
Stimulate the points by rubbing them a few times a day. They may ache when you do this – this is fine – but they should not be painful.
The ear seeds will last for up to 5 days, then remove them, wait 24 hours and replace.
Nothing – literally! We are always on hand to help at hello@acupips.com
Ear seeds are non-invasive and do not pierce the skin. If you are pregnant then we recommend consulting a physician or other healthcare provider before applying them. We would also advise caution to anyone with a latex, nickel or adhesive allergy.
Zoë is an acupuncturist who trained for 4 years with the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. She has over 10 years experience in acupuncture and auricular therapy.
Whilst there are a few companies out there who sell ear seeds, most are not qualified in this area. It is important that you find a seller who can offer sound advice based on actual experience and qualifications.
We recommend consulting your physician if you are pregnant, otherwise, yes, everyone can use ear seeds – even children! (They work really well on kids with stress and anxiety!)
