Tuesday after Monday holiday.

I only get the main holidays off, so I totally forgot yesterday was a holiday. Was wondering why I hadn't gotten paid yesterday. This morning I was reminded it was because of the holiday. Ah. Already had waited a day since the 15th was on Sunday.

Valentine's Day was a little stressful because I socialized! The opera had a fundraiser with a social hour (ack!) and then an awesome folky-ish concert. https://www.americanportraits.org
I successfully socialized without bursting into flames. lol The musicians were wonderful, and the pianist was quirky fun.

12. Do you have any siblings?
Functionally, one. I have two half siblings that I don't really interact with.

13. What’s the weather like today? Is it about average for the time of year?
It was in the 70's with nasty bad wind. The temp is a bit above average. The wind was a bit more than usual, but spring we tend to get nasty wind. Going to be in the 50's in a few days-that's more normal.

14. How many flights of stairs would you consider walking up in a building, or do you always take the lift/elevator?
One of my attendings once said I take the elevator up and the stairs down. Thought it was smart. lol It depends on where I am. Mostly, though I'll go up one, maybe two.

15. Have you ever considered how you would leave your home in an emergency?
Yes. Luckily I have good windows or doors in my house. I do worry about my critters.

16. Do you own your own washing machine in your home, or do you use a laundry service/laundry room in the building or a launderette?
Luckily I have my own. Because of clinic and barn stuff I do a *lot* of laundry.

17. Chinese New Year begins today, and festivities continue until March 3rd – the year of the Fire Horse. What animal are you born under in Chinese astrology?
I am a rat. :/ I identify more with Taurus.

Wednesday Feb 11th

Work has been really tiring this week. And then my clinic partner had to leave abruptly this morning, so I had to take some of her patients in my already full morning. But, with teamwork we got it all done in good time. Yay team! My NP came in to help with the afternoon, thankfully.

9. This year is the 40th anniversary of the release of the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – have you ever seen it? Bueller…. Bueller…. Bueller…..
Loved that movie. Still like it. It's where I encountered the band Yello.

10. Have you ever owned a Tamagotchi?
They were in my time, but no.

11. Would you consider yourself superstitious?
I'm in medicine, of *course* I'm superstitious! Many things we won't say for fear of Murphy listening. ;)

Sunday

We had our annual meeting at church today. They've changed how we pick the vestry and convention delegates, so it was so much shorter-woot!! Good lunch, too.

7. Is there a subject at school which you disliked, but you would consider learning now?
Math is not my favorite. Gonna still go with no thanks. Been there, done that. I did music performance, but never thought about music theory. I wouldn't mind that now.

8. How often do you read fiction?
ALL THE TIME! And the things. lol

THE OLYMPICS HAVE STARTED!! If i disappear for two weeks, that is probably why. :)

But,
6. In 1869, Harper's Weekly published the first picture of Uncle Sam with chin whiskers. Do you know anyone with a beard or a moustache?
Most notably our head priest, who changes his hair/facial hair almost every week, it seems. lol

4. How old is the oldest book you own?
My mom once sent me some books she got at a junk shop, not sure what they are because it's been a long time since I've seen them. lol Oh, and I have an old pediatrics book on my shelf in the clinic. At least 25 years old. lol Kidding. (but they are, since a lot of them are from med school and residency) But, the old one I'm talking about is ??1940? Need to go look at it.

5. It’s the 60th anniversary of the game ‘Twister’ – have you ever played it?
Yes! Although the last time was over 25 years ago.

Choir last night was interesting. We spent the last 15 minutes in the nave, singing with the bells. We are doing an anthem together. The first time ever. I admit I was a bit unsure about it, but it was fun, and I love the bells director who directed us as well.

2. When was the last time you saw an original hand-painted painting?
I have a few in my house, at least 2 of them were not done by me. ;)

3. Is there a book you’ve seen made into a film and been disappointed with the result?
I try to not compare the two. Although the whole bs they did with Thranduil, his wife, and Legolas is just a no to me.
OTOH, I loved seeing Thranduil go to war on his not!horse.

Sunday

Supposed to get to a high of 60 today. But it's winter 60, so wasn't that warm for very long. I did wear a short sleeved shirt to the barn, and was able to take off my outer layers while I was working.

Rode at a walk. OMG, Zolar is feeling the 2 weeks off. Not bending, not listening, all thinking he's in charge. lol Subtly, of course, because that's how he rolls.

1. What’s your favourite hot beverage? How do you make it?
Hot tea, mostly Irish or English Breakfast. Short-ish brewing with boiling water, with 1 tsp sugar and milk to make it lighter.
Also, Trenta Starbucks Strawberry-Acai refresher with water. yum. (sorry, not hot).

Cold Saturday

Although not nearly as cold as last Saturday. High of 37F.
I've stayed in for most of the day. Now I need to go clean stalls and the tack room toilet.
BTW, I never did call the chiropractor, so I still have back pain. I think I see it as a kind of failure if I have to se him sooner than usual.

29. It's Tom Sellek's birthday - have you ever seen him in anything you've enjoyed?
Magnum PI!!!!!! I loved that.

30. In 1873, Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne was published in France. Have you read the book or seen any of the films?
I'm going to go with no.

31. Do you like hot chocolate with or without marshmallows?
No marshmallows, please. And I don't want the full packet of cocoa, maybe 3/4.

Choir Day

Choir practice on Wednesdays. I sneak a personal pan at Pizza Hut for dinner since it starts at 6pm.
My hydrant is unfrozen, yay!

28. Have you ever played a kazoo?
Yes! They were a lot of fun to mess around with back in the day. Haven't played with on in decades.

Half day

No lesson because it's cold- brrrr! lol It was in the 40's, but winter 40's. Instead I did some errands.

I need to change my chiropractor appt to next week instead of 3 weeks from now because my right SI joint is out. Again. Lazy days at home are nice, but usually lead to my SI coming out from sitting. After a fall (from a horse)several years ago it came out the first time, and stayed that way for a long time. Since then it'll come out once in a while just for fun. It makes my whole left lower back hurt and pulls my hip, so I walk like an old lady. Well, older lady. lol I could have called to see if they had an appointment this afternoon, but I had things to do, and I am a stubborn idiot. Usually the pain eventually decreases to a dull roar.

27. Up-Helly-Aa is a vibrant fire festival celebrated in the UK Shetland Islands tonight. Thousands gather to witness the breathtaking sight of a longship ablaze, illuminating the night sky. Do you have any similar local winter or summer celebrations?

Oh wow, sounds fancy. Also, I love a Shetland pony.
We don't have anything cool. Several days before and after July 4th idiots out where I live set off their fireworks. Does that count?
