🙌🎣💪 Xpress BoatsBryer Pennington gets back-to-back entries in Arkansas Legacy Lunker program
What a weekend at White Oak! After securing Legacy Lunker Number Seven with a 10.45-pound bass on Saturday, Pennington returned to Lower White Oak Lake Sunday and nabbed a second double-digit bass for Valentine’s Weekend. This time his catch of the day weighed 10.11 pounds. The fish was weighed on certified scales before being transported to Joe Hogan State Fish Hatchery in Lonoke to swim with her lake-mate in one of the hatchery’s hawg troughs.
“Yesterday was the first time my wife Grace has come fishing with me in years, and it was the first time I ever caught a 10-pound bass certified on a scale” Pennington said. “I told her she had to come back, and sure enough, we got another one!”
Pennington is the current conservation director for the Arkansas BASS Nation. He has been hitting Lower White Oak Lake hard since the announcement of the Arkansas Legacy Lunker program to find a fish to donate.
“What the Arkansas Game and Fish has done with White Oak is amazing,” Pennington said. “It was good before, but now the boat lanes are really good and the lake has been producing well for the last five years. I wouldn’t have been fishing as hard if it weren’t for this program. I’m really looking forward to these fish getting a good spawn and being stocked back into Arkansas lakes. I’m going to continue trying to bring in more 10-pounders before it’s over.”
When asked if he’s focused only on White Oak Lake, Pennington said there are multiple locations in his area worth visiting.
“(Lake) Columbia’s going to have one caught from there and probably (Lake) Erling,” Pennington said. “And I wouldn’t be shocked if Millwood turns in at least a half dozen Lunker-class fish in the next month. But you haven’t heard of the last fish from White Oak, either.”
For his participation in the program, Pennington will receive a reproduction mount of both his fish from Harper’s Pure Country Taxidermy and the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation. He will also receive a second entry into the drawing for a fully rigged 21-foot Xpress boat courtesy of Xpress Boats of Hot Springs.
